I managed a pass to the Tuscon Press Preview of the Prius III. The event promises some Q&A time with Toyota staff as well as drive cycles behind the wheel. I'm obviously thrilled beyond words.

If you have anything you'd like to know or hear, please post them. I'm honor bound not to really tell you anything until after the Press Embargo is lifted, but I'd still like to hear what people want to know.

How about asking what impact the ongoing Recession (with a big R) is expected to have on Gen III Prius sales? For more clarification, could the Recession actually help Gen III Prius sales - since more car buyers this year may be looking for more value as well as cheaper - but still want a "Prestige" vehicle. So instead of buying a luxury car (Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, etc.) - these Prestige buyers will opt for a loaded Prius instead.

Yeah, I didn't get to go to any of the Prius Connect events, but it looked like a blast.

    Dan,
I know they won't give much of a direct answer, but I'd like to press someone for details about moving up the full release of a PHEV version of the 2010. There was a recent article posted here about Panasonic starting production at the end of 2009 (was originally planned for early 2010). You could couch it like:

"Does the announcement of Panasonic's plans to begin production in 2009 indicate that Toyota intends to begin large scale production of a Li ion plug-in hybrid within the next year?" If not, then what are the plans with the earlier production, if so...when!

Agreed... I'll see if I can't get some confirmation on what CAN IDs will be supported. It's a stretch to expect it, but it won't hurt to ask.
