has anyone tried to put together a lithium pack for an auxiliary 12 v, I'm due for one so since they are prety pricy why not make it a party, any input is much apreciated, I know ev conversions usualy use 4 prismatics for a 12 v, or whatever the traction is made out of, I know I'm kindof off topic here thou it shoul be right down your alley.,

not only the price is outrageus but they are too small, 12v x45ah =540 for the stock, jegs has those for 1600 what a joke,
I have an ebike and the manufacturer can custom make me something, 540wa it will be about 400 shiped, maybe less, sure it is not as prety as jegs but oh well least it will fit, but question remains, how would it work? my bike bat is ment to be discharged and pluced in overnight at 5 a, heard the prius can push 40 ampsat times, up to 100, yeaks, I like the ideea but can it be done?

There is simply no reason to use a Li ion battery in an application where the standard LA battery performs perfectly well and will last 5-8 years. You would have to modify the charging mechanism in the car, spend a fortune on the replacement battery, and worst of all, realize NO noticeable performance improvement whatsoever. If you do everything right, you might get longer life out of it. If you goof the charging mods, you could destroy the Li battery very quickly. I'd say the consensus here is to find a different project.

I would pretty much have to agree at this point, I plan on having this car for a while, I was looking into converting it to propane this summer( thats another story ) I'm definately interested in a plugin at some point, the led battery is a bit of an insult at this point, which is why I comsidered the posibility, since it seems like I will need one soon, I do know however lithium is more of a deep discharge/slow charge setup, not like the prius takes a start type batery, which is why I considered it, thou it seems the car is not ment to have such a batery for an auxiliary, why I figured I'd ask in this forum, my other option, besides stock is a mobility type deep discharge, seems like a good alternative and honestly its not like I'm trying to save a buck but I'm not entirely sure the stock is proper, heard some stories and I had a funny one happen to me recently (thou the battery is probl due), If all else fails , I guess a stock one will have to do.

    thanks for the input, George
