 We have been on waiting lists since Memorial Day and my husband has been pouring over this site daily enviously reading about all of you who have received your new Prius. We were told we'd wait at least 45-60 days. Well, today 2 dealers have called each with a Driftwood Pearl/Bisque Pkg. 2. Now what should we do? Take both and sell one or refuse one of them? We have to make a quick decision here! Don't think we want to keep both of them.

Do the right thing. If you guys only intended for one, just take one. Don't try to "flip" the car.

Remember, "price sells cars"! Take the cheapest and if the same price the closest to your home, (for service, etc.) That's the exact car I have, you will love it.

Buyer's market! Let each one know of your situation and see who wants to sell you theirs the most...

Or choose the dealer that's closest whom you might use for service.

take the one that is cheapest and closest to you. that is the best idea. ask and see if somebody in your area is wanting a driftwood pearl prius and do a good deed and offer your spot to them...somebody on priuschat would be nice.

They probably have 20 people in line to buy it if they do not take it.

    Take the best deal.

Hmm. You both got cell phones? Wife goes to one dealer, Hubby to other. Both negotiate and keep the phone on. Whoever gets best deal wins.

Buyers market......that's funny. If you start trying to pit them against each other you'll probably wind up still on the wait list.

Although if both are the same price, I do agree with picking the closest dealership.

This is American, the land of opportunity. I'd buy em both and put one up for sale above MSRP. There will be someone not willing to wait who will buy it.
    You asked. :D

Or ... you could just go with the dealer you "like" the best. The one with the better service managers, nicer staff ... etc. etc. ...

To me, a dealer that is pleasant -- and, more importantly, fair -- to visit for service and repairs is worth the $500 you may have saved by going to another dealership.

$1000.00 on the other hand? Nah, that ain't worth it.

If you can afford it, buy them both and sell the evil twin!
People who tell you not to are just jealous that they don't have the opportunity to make a little extra money.

So you put down a $500 deposit with 2 different dealers? If you only take one car, do you lose the other deposit? I'm not sure how that bit works.

It was explained to me that the $500 waitlist deposit is just a means for the dealer to keep the list "clean." As long as you're really waiting you'll agree to let the dealer hold your $500, but as soon as you tire of waiting or get your car elsewhere you'll ask for your $500 back and the dealer knows that you're no longer in the market.

I understand that some dealers have tried to stipulate that the deposits are non-refundable but this is why reputable dealers take a refundable deposit, anyway. :)

Thanks, good to know! So I can get on the wait list with both the dealers in my area, and then just wait and see who gets the car I want, first! Super!

We're not really sure either! We are debating taking both cars even though they are the same color. Dealer initially said the deposit is non-refundable although from the posts we have read here that is most likely not the case. Hubby is leaning toward taking both cars. If no one in our family wants one of them I'm sure we can find a buyer.

Take neither unless offered at the MSRP.
