Looks better than the old Town Cars I remember, actually it looks better than the current Town Cars they are trying to sell for $38,000. The the MKS looks like it has a lot of kit on it. I wonder if they well sell much to help out Ford.

I've seen that ad on tv a few times....always makes me laugh when I see the button light up "Engine". I much perfer "Power".

But they aren't really turning the car on...it's really just a button for the starter..........Big Deal.......

those keyless entry buttons on the door..... so i can now see what your code is and get away with your car?
  4. Yankees251
I laugh at those buttons on door, they have been around since the early 90's and there is a reason why you don't see them on every car....THEY SUCK! Reason number 328 why American car companies are not gaining ground on their foreign counterparts.
  5. okiebutnotfrommuskogee
They have been around at least since the early 80's, We had an 84 town car with them. I still remember the code, 6-4-7-8-2 I think. :)

To my knowledge, only the Ford Motor company uses the buttons on the doors, we had a Mercury Mountaineer that had it, I remember the two bottom buttons locked the doors.

Yeah, I feel that I'm annoying people at this point when I tell them that my 2004 Prius came with bluetooth years before it was mainstream, that I had voice-nav/climate/radio control, that I could lock/unlock my car without keys and start my car with the keys in my pocket and the push of a button. Again, years before it was "mainstream."

Oh well, I say. Let them have their fun. By the looks of things, we will have night vision in 2010!

It is very ironic that Lincoln...a car company that has a bad reputation for being behind the times is pushing the SKS so hard when its on almost all luxury cars now and has been for a few years, and is even on a lot of downmarket cars now. Funny.

The MKS is a real nice car, I drove one. Best car Lincoln has made in my lifetime, by far and I would seriously consider it alongside a new Lexus ES or GS, etc. Its main drawback is its FWD...has an AWD option but still front biased. Very well built, excellent materials, beautiful wood trim.

As for the combo lock, its actually patented and copywritten by Ford. Nissan came out with one in the early 90s and promptly got sued. I actually really miss the keypad from my Explorer. Its handy to be able to access the car without the keys to get things out of it, its nice to be able to lock the keys in the car when I can't carry them...

I was thinking, "why advertise a brand new car by showing off an obsolete feature?"

My favorite part is the highlighting of that oh so cutting edge analog instrument cluster.
  11. bruceha_2000
I presume you still need the SKS fob in the car to start it. Wikipedia has this line:
Maybe they should say new TO FORD technologies :)

I have found the ad amusing as well. Yep, already have that. And the whole star ship thing. Yeah, OK. I guess some people will be fooled into thinking they can get a star ship for $38K :)

    Done.

Actually most people vastly prefer an analog instrument cluster, including me. Digitial instruments were popular in the 80s and early 90s, but the novelty wore off and people went back to analog instruments.

I believe the Prius is one of...if not the only car on the road today with a digital instrument cluster.
  14. liverbomb88
When turning on the HIDs, the lenses seem to focus by moving laterally (outward). This means that during normal daylight waking hours, the MKS is sitting there cross-eyed.:dizzy:
  15. onlynark
the 06/07 has the digital instrumentation as well. I MUCH prefer it over the analog because I can see how fast I am going when I am looking straight ahead.
  16. Boo
At least in another ad they play Bowie's "Space Oddity" as covered by Cat Power.
  17. SW03ES
The Prius has always had the digital instrumentation, but its one of if not the only car currently on the market that does.

I have them on my 1990 Taurus SHO. I like them, I can get in the car at any time with them, lock the doors, unlock all the doors and pop the trunk. Nine times out of 10 I just use the remote fob but when you need them they are very handy.

I'm sure you can probably get a Town Car or a Grand Marques with a digital cluster. The Honda Civic and the Honda S2000 both have digital speedometers. Also, there are quiet a few GM products that have both, either as a HUD or as a selectible option on the cluster.
