In my 2006 Gen 2 I got a sequence off of priuschat to turn off the beeping. The Prius C3 beeps with the door ope (ok with that)..beeps with the lights on (ok I guess)...but when you turn off the car it beeps for no reason. How do I turn that off? These beeps are driving me nuts. There has to be an easy way to silence this.
What beep are you talking about? It beeps for no reason just because you've turned the car off? Either I'm used to it and don't notice it (which I suppose is possible) or I'm completely misunderstanding what you're talking about. The only time I notice beeping is if I've left the headlights on. Then again, I also don't remember it beeping just because the door is open either (unless the headlights are on).
I recall the other day I turned her off and opened my door and the car started beeping at me. I closed it and checked everything I could think of (made sure lights were off and car actually was off) and gave up confused.. then opened the door again and there was no beep. Is what you're referencing in the OP happen when you turn off the car and open the door or just when you turn it off? Sounds like maybe a bug in the system, I dunno.
Exactly...I'm in the garage, I shut it off, (no lights are on and the sunroof is closed)...and its beeping. I open the door and shut it...no more beeping. So it makes it that I can't sit in my car after turning it off unless I open and shut the door. I haven't hit the dealer yet to see if there is a trick to shutting it off.
Hm...pure speculation: Do you put it in Park before you shut it off? I'm wondering if it has something to do with the higher models/Smart key. Mine is a Two and doesn't do that (but that could be coincidence).
The same thing happens to me and it's extremely annoying. I put my car in park shut off the headlights then hit the start button to turn the car off and sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't but when it does it just beeps forever and it's loud and annnnnnnoying there has to be something we can do about it!
Ashley7 may be on to something here about the the vehicles with the Smart key function. Does everyone that is experiencing this annoying beep have the Smart key function? If so, could it be an indicator that the immobilizer function has been activated? It would be redundant considering that there is already a flashing red icon that indicates this, but who knows. This beeping always makes me think I've forgotten and left something open or forgot to shut something off.
What does the dash say/or show? whenever I turn off the car and it beeps, the dash display tries to tell me what it not happy with, I wish I could turn off the beeps for the sunroof tilt.....
Foot on brake...push off button...car shuts down and beeps...foot off brake...display gives trip stats. This is normal. Is this the beep you want turned off?
i think Im on to this...Its a sequence thing.. Shut off the lights. close the sunroof, turn off the audio, turn off the car...no ding when the door is closed. you just can't deviate from the sequence.
I made an error here, I just tested my car and I DID NOT get a beep. So the correct statement for my car is: Foot on brake...push off button...car shuts down and NO beep...foot off brake...display gives trip stats.
The door beep issue can be resolved by the dealer, apparently. In the manual, it's listed as one of the things they can set, under door alarm.
