Pretty cool, thanks for sharing. I would love to know that the average income of my city was like $490,000! :)

I think median income would be much more meaningful than average income. Having a few superwealthy folks in a small community seriously skews the average.

True. I doubt if Chicago would be on the list if Oprah Winfrey moved away.

I noticed interesting differences between West and East preferences - on one coast, it's the Prius, yet on the other, it's a Mercedes.

Could this be a California HOV permit issue? Isn't this more California compared to everyone else?

That is an effect, to be sure. The DC belt is a really good example of HOV pushing hybrid sales.

On the flip side, In my state of NM Prius are pretty unusual outside of Santa Fe, Los Alamos, the well-to-do areas of Albuquerque, and physician parking lots. No HOV in the state.

For the west coast outside CA, no, because we don't have HOV permits. For CA itself, I'd still guess no, because the people who push up the average incomes in those zip codes generally are not typical commuters.

Other than the Prius appearing as the single eco friendly car on a few of the lists they are all pretty much the same. Range Rover, Mercedes Benz, BMW. A much more interesting article would be "The percentage of total miles driven per year by the eco poser Prius owner." Other than showing up to the latest global warming fundraiser, or when their Benz is in the shop, I bet they don't drive the Prius much at all. Just because you own one doesn't mean anything. It doesn't do any good when it's sitting in the garage while you take the S500 to the country club.

The article says that tourists in these small CA enclaves stick out by virture of not driving a MB or Prius.

But why let facts interefere with your envy ? If the Prius *is* driven, you can whine that the poseurs waste fuel like everybody else!

Your reply makes no sense. I don't have envy, I own one. Actually I own two. Are you saying I am envious of the rich posers who buy one just so it can sit in their garage while they hit the links in their Benz?

Or do you just like trying to contradict my posts..:fencing:

Making wild assumptions and accusations about wealthy Prius owners is just as bad as making wild assumptions and accusations against every-day Prius owners. One set is composed of "tree huggers" and the other "poseurs." Get real.

Yes it does get old. But, then again, I am mature and intelligent enough to see that your comment is intended as irony.

Only an idiot would take my comments so out of context as was done by (aptly named) massparanoia.

Let me guess at mp's next response: "I know you are but what am I?"
