Instead of using 3000k HID bulbs in the OEM Fog Light Assembly like I did (best color temp for Fog or Rain). Use the same color temp that ur HID kit uses 4300k 5000k or 6000k

F8L had the right idea of doing a retrofit. I'm taking it to the next level. Doing a Hella Micro De Retrofit. They seem to have the best foreground between the Blazer fogs and the Micro De.

Comparison of the light pattern - Blazer has awesome cutoff but barely any foreground:

So you did a retro fit hid kit on those?

I'm working in it still. Not completed. But once I'm done, yes I will reuse the HID 3000k bulbs as it does get foggy here on the Coast. 3000k is still best for Rain or fog. If I were do live more inland - I'd probably stick with the OEM color temp and use the fogs as additional driving lights.

Hella Micro De Fog light retrofit proceeding :)

Even with 35w ballasts from DDM Tuning and their ultra bulbs in 3000k I can barely tell they are even on..... (I am running their Ultra 5500k d4r bulbs in my headlamps....

I'm planning on taking out the HIDs, get some aftermarket add on fogs.....mount those inward of the OE fogs.

Then use the OE fogs as DRLs. .....

    Merged

IMO fog lights should be yellow to cut through the fog. If you just want whiter light, add on some driving lights.?..different pattern too, even with white lights mounted in fog assemblies, you're only lighting the 15 feet in front of the car....

I agree with the color of light affecting the performance. In San Diego I had more fog than I do now up in Alberta, so I've switched to 'driving lights' using the OEM location but with different housings and color.

From my experience of upgrading my lighting.

OEM halogen < OEM housing with HID bulbs.

OEM housing with HID bulbs < on my 2008 I had the Hella Micro DE retrofit. The improvement over OEM housing and HID was huge.
