Bought my new 2008 Prius (model 1226, not 1224) and my first Toyota overall today. My Prius is a mica green model 1226 (Touring) with package 2. I tried to buy one with package 5 but that seemed to be the popular one and I could only find one in a color I did not want. For $2900, I figured I could buy a Garmin GPS to mount on the window and could upgrade the stereo later (if needed). I traded in my 4 year old SUV that was getting about 15 mpg and in about 75 miles driven in my new Prius, I'm averaging about 50.5 mpg. It's awesome!

Welcome to the world of Prius'.... I purchased mine just two months ago (1224 / Magnetic Gray / Pkg #3 / Leather Seats upgrade at no charge) and have put on 3500+ miles.... though I'm getting 48.5 miles on mostly highway driving.... 35 miles one way to work...

Beats getting 28 to 30 miles in the 98 Toyota Camry I had with 306,000 miles. (gone from 5 days to fill up to 7 - 9 days depending on if I don't go anywhere on my days off...):D

I have put 311 miles on my new Prius this week. I can't help it. My wife and I even carpool now. I tend to have limited highway driving and most travel has an average speed of about 45. I'm averaging 50.3 mpg. Sure beats the 12 mpg I was getting on the big SUV I dumped to buy my Prius.

I do feel bad for my 2000 Honda Civic. I can remember when that was the fuel efficient car. Now its 25 mpg just seems awful.

Great mpg, Shadestrades. My other older car, a 95 Taurus SHO can give me 22 mpg but I have not driven it for about 3 months now...just sitting in the garage.
