Bought the car on Monday, started modding it the first night, and today was the first major revision.

Yet to be done: wheels, sways, and some other improvements to get the car to handle a little better.

For now, here's what was done:
    1) painted the amber reflector a matte silver
    2) Installed high powered LED bulbs for the city/driving bulbs
    3) Wired up the DRL LED so they come on with the parking lights
    4) Installed an HID system
    5) Install an LED Angel eyes kit
    6) Installed LED license plate bulbs

    To Be Continued...

Sure, why not, they bake open in 20 minutes and the factory Koito headlights with factory Koito sealant are easy to work with. Very much a DIY if you follow the basic precautions.

Agreed! Though the silver is nice and clean as well but was sold out.

I agree. Baking the headlights on your brand new Prius takes some stones, and I congratulate you for it.
Do you have some experience with doing these kind of headlight mods? What angel eye kit did you use? What HID kit did you use?

I'd be happy to give you some info privately, I don't want it to turn into a commercial thread. It's what we do (my company).

My guess would be "Just Because."

I'm not wild about the cartoon eyes and tail lamps that all of the new cars are being equipped with, but they offer one distinct advantage over the more adult versions:
    Visibility!
It beats the heck out of the blacked-out look that was sooooo 2010.

Whether I "like" the mod in question or not, I like the visual image of somebody buying a new car and hacking into it before the ink on the purchase order is dry.
If there's one thing that the Prius Community is in dire need of, it's a little individuality and panache rather than seeing cars as a something that is reluctantly accepted as a necessary transportation appliance.

New OEM headlamp assemblies are available on eBay for about 300 bucks a pair, and they're pretty easy to replace if you screw up the mod.
    No big rocks needed. :)

    Good Job!

Several reasons, not the least of which is car identification. There are millions of Prius cars in NorCal, just the other day we were walking back from a 4th of July fireworks show and walked right past our car (prior to the work). So there are ways to individualize the car that improves recognition:)

Also, it's what we do (my company) - we improve, modify, and enhance lighting - so this is a natural test bed. Why not bring our customization skills to a new market of potential enthusiasts.

And finally, I like it :p

    Graci - agreed.

PM me a photo, let me see if I can help you with links.

Been a bit busy with work;)

Easy peasy, drop them into an oven on a baking sheet for 20 minutes at 200F on "BAKE" not broil, not convection, but BAKE only.
They get soft enough, then you remove the little screws that hold the light into place and then just peel open while they are hot. Reverse the process to close up. So far, 2 car washes (one automated touchless, one hand wash) and no issues at all with leaking or fogging.

    I'll PM you.

Silver was our first choice, but the blue is growing on me more. I think it's best;)
