Just my luck, bought a brand new 2015 plug in and realized after 1 day the driver's windows doesn't roll down on auto, and the passenger side roll down doesn't work at all. Car only had 6 miles on it when I drove off the lot. I'm disappointed to say the least.

Have you accidentally pressed the Window Lock button by any chance? Also I think there is a setting you can change that controls this. Check the manual.

Check the window lock button first. If you made that boo-boo, shame on you given your Prius experience! After that, fully lower each window. while holding the button down for 3 extra seconds. Then fully raise each window while holding the up switch for 3 extra seconds. This will calibrate the auto up/down.

I am sure there is a perfectly good explanation for this.

    Could be worse.
Could of bought a $127,000 Tesla and have the door lock not work.

Disappointing, frustrating, but you're under warranty. And that IS the type of thing that should be easily fixed.

This was the last one on the lot with CA carpool stickers, been sitting there since Sept/2014 as a 2015 model.

I know they had to jump start the car since nobody knew this car even existed at their dealership until I asked about it.

That explains it. Have them replace the 12V battery first. If it's been sitting for 9 months with constant SKS drain, that battery is way dead.

well it's measuring above 12.8 volts after they charged it up, they won't be changing that for me.

Are you noticing anything else, other than the windows having issues?

I've read enough threads where people charge a dying battery and initially get good numbers but still end up needing a new battery.

    But bottom line?

I'm keying in on the words "Brand New".

Buying a brand new vehicle, you lose a lot of money the moment you sign the contract and drive it off the lot. BUT the big advantage is the New Car Warranty.

Why stress about it? Let Toyota figure it out, and start documenting in case you do start having further problems.

I'm not stressing over this, I already intend to bring the car back. I just wanted to express my disappointment at a brand new car with 6 miles and already having issues.

I leased it for 3 years, it's not like I'm keeping it.

Sure, I'd be disappointed, and perhaps frustrated. But worst case scenario, that problem seems rather mundane and very addressable. Nobody wants a problem with a new vehicle, but if you are going to discover a ghost in the machine? The window switch not working properly is about as friendly a ghost as you could want.

I hate to mention it but given that this is a 6 miles and just cut the umbilical cord problem, did you try the advice in Post #2?

No I plan on taking the car to the dealer. There should be something wrong with the button as it doesn't roll up or down, technology should not control that. I also want a free donut!

I blame the dealer for not properly doing the predelivery inspection.

The Electric Me has a very good point. If there was a choice of a problem, I would imagine the windows would be an ok choice, leaning towards an easy fix.

You might want to try this and save yourself a trip to the dealer:

thegreenenergy: How to get your Prius power windows working again

Granted, that may apply to Gen2.. BUT I do know for a fact that after you replace the 12V (or in your case after charging it back up), you do need to reset the Auto window up and down thing (something to do with pinch protection and the window knowing where top is)

For those who dont want to click through, basically, just hold the window switch in the up position (with window all the way up) for 10 seconds to reset the system

    LOL!
    Enjoy the donuts.

I do believe Toyota builds good products. So even though "Lemons" are possible with any automaker, I hope this can be easily resolved, and you can restore your faith in the machine enough to enjoy it.

Good Luck, let us know what the ultimate resolution turns out to be.

    UPDATE:

Hopefully it's as easy as post 18.

The passenger window doesn't roll down at all using the controls on the driver's side.

Yes I understand the driver's window needs to reset.
