Hello, I have been reading and see that the brake light repair is about $385, I am trying to find a solution to fixing my brake light which is out and the best way to trouble shoot it. Not sure if it's one led bulb that can be replaced or if I need to buy the whole new thing. I would greatly appreciate any input. Thanks!

You would need to replace it with a new or (working) used one. I believe you can get aftermarket one's for under $100, probably sold all over ebay.

I'm actually really curious about this, do we know if anyone has redone a broken brake light assembly? I'd be tempted to investigate replacing the individual components in it (iirc theres resistors and LEDs in it that can both fail?).

I... I really should have searched before I asked. Thank you. It's pleasing to see that someone did manage to replace them, though unfortunate that it seems to require partial destruction and reconstruction of the assembly.

Broke one of mine recently and bought a brand new aftermarket on eBay for $65. PM me and I'll send you the link
    ii.

Really easy to replace just 2 nuts and Toyota does not goop the light on for waterproofing they just use a gasket so comes right out clean.
    One plug.

Yes, I went today to find the price its about $213 is what the guy told me for the entire light assembly, which I need, because the case is cracked as well ( shopping cart). If I purchase this just curious if you changed it yourself? Is it easy to do with the help of another person?

lol, yes at least I can do this.... but I also have a P1121 code and I know there are diy videos... but I don't have a lot of tools and faith in my ability to mess with a water coolant valve so..... I am painfully going to have to remedy that pain in the butt at the dealership

    thanks for your help

Check for some reputable mechanics in your area, it's not a difficult job

I really want to but don't know who to trust..... the last time I trusted firestone to do a simple oil change it cost me $600 because he over filled it, they reimbursed me but still it was so stressful. thank you

Firestone is tire shop that expanded to basic services like oil changes and brakes. I was referring to a real mechanic shop, with certified mechanics. Where do you live? Maybe someone can offer a recommendation

I live in Dallas, texas . I went to two import auto parts stores by my house and got one recommendation but its iffy, which I am still going to call, but when I asked all of them about mechanics that would do a water coolant valve replacement, they were very hesitant on whether or not the places they recommended had serviced a toyota prius hybrid before or ever had any experience with doing it..... so right now it looks like the dealership is my only option, just with peace of mind and knowing they will do it correctly. If you know of anyone that would help me mucho!!!! Thanks!
