Here's an alternative possibility. When car company design teams do full size clay mock ups so that the final design can be signed off by management, to save on costs they will put slightly different designs on either side of the model. That way by standing on the alternate sides of the vehicle you get to see 2 design choices on the one mock up. So that could be what we have a here. Photos of the one clay model taken from either side with two alternative headlight designs.

Hmmm, maybe, but I don't think there's anything here to support that. Remember, the current Prius only shows "B" on the HUD when you're in D mode.
But the current gen Prius' original showed larger and fancier rims than the production had.

What's the point of the square and round lights in the fog-light area?

The shifter seems to be tradition straight line selector. This is only a guess from the look and it does not seem like a joy stick type from current gen Prius. If the shifter can only move up or down, there is no room on the HUD for "B" under the "D".

It looks like the Power button is next to the shifter.

I may be wrong but I think I remember in the first spy interior shot from a month or so ago that was the hazard light round button to the right of he shifter

The Hihy has a straight line shifter w/ B-mode. I wouldn't be disappointed to see B gone and not trying to argue w/ you, I just don't think we can make that assumption at this point.

The reports that I've received from people who have seen a prototype up close is that the joystick is carrying over into the Gen III.

If these pictures are real, it looks like Toyota has decided to go with an additional turn signal on the front of the bumper above the fog lights instead of side mirror signals as we saw in some of the "artistic depictions".

For those of you disappointed with the look in these pictures, just remember: Toyota's not gonna mess with a good thing. This isn't like moving from the Echo-style Gen I to the current-style Gen II. I think the main emphasis with the Gen III is going to be larger engine, greater fuel economy, and enhanced features that didn't exist in the Gen II.

Looks like there's a USB port or something next to the 12V outlet. That would definitely be more useful than a 110V outlet.

Found this gem at the Jalopnik site that Linkbacked to this thread:

I think we're all overlooking the most crucial aspect of this article.
There's a PriusChat board? Like... seriously, there are enough enthusiasts -- ie, more than one -- out there that actually want to sit and talk about their Prii that they created a website?
Or is it a support group?
"Hi... my name is Mike... and I drive a Prius."
    "HI MIKE."
"Seriously, ever since I bought it, all the joy has left my life. And, on top of that, I started eating a lot of bran, and now I spend most of my life on the can."
    "Let it out, Mike!"
    "That's the problem!"
"Your emotions, you idiot, not your..."

Well, so much for revealing one tantalising detail at a time. I was expecting something more...distinctive. It looks like a Honda, not the world's most recognisable hybrid. I like the little bulge on the nose, but not the lower lights clusters or the square grille. Sorry, I don't mean to dis the efforts of the designers, because I know they've worked long and hard, but I guess I value uniqueness over blending in. Maybe they'll come in purple. :)

Personally, I don't like the re-design either, on the inside with that center console, and the exterior looks too much like a Yaris. I much prefer the cleaner lines of the 2nd-gen. Heck, I was hoping for even cleaner lines, but it was not to be. :p

I'm with you there. I would have preferred some incremental step in the design moving toward the highly aerodynamic Aptera.

Well, there is the lane assistance feature, as well as the headlight wiper feature. That could explain the rectangular protrusions near the headlights. Only a theory...

I truly hope this isn't the final version. I think the Gen II looks cleaner myself. Then again, stranger car designs have grown on me. Let's see the rear. :)

Hmm.. looks like it has IPA fitted..
The existing IPA does not have any front sensors to avoid the front end swiping another object when reverse parking.. this model appears to have a side mounted collision sensor fitted to avoid that problem. :D

Re: BREAKING NEWS! 2010 Prius Photos posted on PriusChat First! Real or no?

if you look closer at these images and the spy shots, you can tell that this thing is just another rendering.

for example, if you look at the toyota logo on the front grille, it reaches reaches all the way to the bottom of the grille and cuts the grille completely. however, if you take a closer look at the spy shots, the logo only reaches half way down.

if you look at the opening at the bottom of the grille in these renderings, you notice that that opening is wider than the grille. however, it is the reverse in the spy shots.

if you look at the number plate on the spy shots, they are fixed on a rectangular shaped lump, which doesn't appear in these renderings.

when you look at the back of the car in these renderings, the tail lights form a shape which resembles the letter "v" turned sideways. if you zoom in on this spy shot, 2011 Toyota Prius: 2011 Toyota Prius Stalking San Francisco Streets, the tail lights form a "perfect" curved shape which flows with the body, not the sideways v as portrayed in these renderings.

these are just a few of the mistakes in these renderings and i'm almost certain that these are not official images.
