bump of shift knob can damage transmission

I don't know if this helps, but, I believe Dozzer is talking about the unique case of hitting 'park' while at speed which forced the sys into N and then not being able to shift to D without hitting the brake. Others are talking about freely shifting without having hit the park button. The cases may not be the same.

Here is what I've learned ALL BY DOING.

You CAN shift from D to N at any point with no issues(I've done it at 83mph). You CAN Shift from N to D at any point with no issues(I've done it at 62 mph). The reasons for this is mountinous regions we shift out of D when crusing down mountain passes.

ohh, and the cops DON"T pull you over.

That's a bit like saying it's OK to smoke two packs a day 'coz you haven't got lung cancer yet.

Why aren't you using "B" when coming down mountain passes? That's what it was designed for. It's silly to burn up the brakes and risk having one of the motor-generators fly apart.

No need to press the brake when switching back to D.
