Screwed again by Toyota 25% over US pricing! (straight currency conversion should be 13%) not to mention the 2x Freight charge over the US.

This compares to, for the 2009:
    Base model: CAN$27710
Premium Package C: CAN$30740 (pretty much same pack as 2010 Premium)
Premium Package: CAN$30970 (pretty much same pack as 2010 Touring)
    Premium Package + Nav: 33720$
(leather seats, and of course radar cruise/LKA were not avail.)

Richard, do you know prices for the accessories? (I'm looking into buying block heater, trunk mat, USB iPod interface, and remote starter; my brilliant salesman doesn't know about the iPod interface and thinks that a remote starter for the Prius doesn't exists ("When you start the car, the engine doesn't turn on... so it would be purposeless!").

Thanks, but why didn't you just add this to the end of the thread we've been keeping all this in for the last 2 months?

I'm sorry but I gave you all the information I got from my dealer.

About your question "Defrance", I am sorry but I am pretty new to the concept of forums. I thought that this information deserved a new thread but I realise that having two on the same subject might be confusing. Fortunately, "Philosophe" took care of it and posted a link on the old one.

    Sorry !

FINALLY! The prices are about what I was expecting, although it'd be nice if they were more on par with the US. My price list from my dealer also shows that the Leather Package costs an extra $1890 and Premium Paint costs an extra $220.

But do we have a list of the equipment in each package? Comparing it to a US car without that would be meaningless.

Our solar panel upgrade is cheaper than the US (Cdn$1,500 vs. US$1,800) but we make it up with the Premium Package's cost of $2,110. The top models are comparable I think. Orenf, what do you think?

That was not my prediction! That was just a pure conversion from USD to CDN to see how much Americans are saving compared to us.

But is it worth it to buy south of the border and import? No.

    Base Prius
CDN price for base $27,500. Imported US Prius in CDN $25,300.

    CDN fright+PDI $1400 = $28,900

    US fright+PDI $750 ($850 CDN) = 26,150+6% duty=27,719

    total savings $1181.

Plus your time, inspection fees and probably a worse financing rate then the one from Toyota Canada and no lease option.

It might look like it's cheaper in the US, and it is if you live and register the car there, but not so much for importing. I'm buying here!

...and that's on the base model, the touring package is cheaper here!

That's because there's no equivalent Touring package in the US. Their Package V adds (to our Touring), leather seats, heated front seats, water-repellent front side windows, power driver's lumbar support. They don't have the bumper protector nor the illuminated door sills.

Any ideas what's going to be available for dealer-installed accessories? It's great that the rear bumper protector and illuminated door sills are part of the tech and touring packages.

Are any of the protection offerings worthwhile? (i.e. undercoating, rust protection, paint protection)

    If I had to guess?

    - Bluelogic bluetooth
    - all weather mats
    - cargo box
    - cargo mat
    - licence plate cover (black or clear frame)
    - ashtray
    - owner's manual wallet
    - Toyota Emergency Kit
    - Toyota First Aid Kit
    - XM Satellite radio
    - rear bumper protector

    No. Not in my opinion.

I might be wrong but I beleive that the XM Satellite radio is included in the Technology package.

I went to my dealer last night in order to finalize the financing for my Prius and the rate is 5.9 for 48 & 60 months and 4.9% for 36 months.

Any ideas on what would be the preparation and delivery fees for the Prius ? Is it different from a dealer to the other or is it a standard price ? I'm in a kind of dispute with my dealer about what they are offering me for the trade-in of my Altima and I would like to make sure that they will not increase the fees in order to accept to give more for my used car.

On the web site of Toyota Canada, for the Prius 2009 when we build that car, those fees are 1420CAN$. I would believe that they will be similar ?
