I am trying to locate the 30 Amp fuse for the Power Windows and the 40 Amp fuse for the Rear Window Defroster.

The manual shows it to be in the fuse panel inside the cabin. The cover on the panel shows it to be there.

However, when you remove the panel, the two fuses are not there.

With that said, does anyone on this board know where those two fuses actually are?

Anyone else have any input on this string? I have noted other's trying to find these fuses and having the same difficulty. I have looked all through our Prius, and have yet to find the two elusive fuses. I did not go into the ECU like hobbit did. Any other input would be most helpful to myself and others here on this board.

Also, I can't get a straight answer from Toyota either. So far, they are holding their words and talking in circles which is typical in my opinion.

Thank you for that, is there a easy way to access that without having to remove the dash panels? I keep wondering if the panel is hinged or something like that.

All you need to do is pull out the left A/C vent and remove two screws. One screw will be exposed once you remove the vent and the other is right above the hood latch. After you get that done, pull the panel towards you while holding the upper (black and above the steering column) panel back.

Thank you very much Avi, it is definitely appreciated. I will link the other post's here on PC to this string. It is definitely helpful and has given me some peace of mind also!

Hi Avi and Dorunron, just wanted to thank you both for advising how to find these fuses. I was able to use the info to replace my rear defogger fuse; really helpful here in New Jersey in the winter.

Avi...I was able to check the fuses and they seemed to be good when I put them on the tester. However, my rear defrost still isn't working. The light on the dash will come on like it's working, but it doesn't clear the window. Any suggestions? Thanks, in advance!

If the 40A DEF fuse is good, then check the DEF relay. That relay should be located somewhere near the DEF fuse, but I can't find it in the electrical wiring manual.

I believe it is one of the two fuses pointed out below in the picture.

Thanks Dorunron, yes its the green one, but I still had to unbolt that metal plate to be able to get pliers on the fuse but its out now and it was the fuse that was the problem.

Full marks to you and this forum and its contributors, especially Avi. Reflects very bad on Toyota though who hide it away so that you have to rip half the interior to get to it and very bad for not admitting they provide the wrong information on the fuse cover and manual.

Many thanks for all your help

Avi is the one to thank. He posted the pic and told me where to look. I then took his pic and marked the areas where the two fuses are.

I wanted to know because I could not find them either after taking the cover off trying to help other's here on PC.

Glad to know the info is helping!

Put the car back together but now getting an intermittant fault with the ignition. Sometimes when I insert the key, with foot on brake pedal and pressing power button I get a whole series of lights including the master warning triangle and the power system doesn't start. Turning on and off several times is sometimes required to get the car started. Have I disturbed something behind the key slot or power button while the trim they are attached to was hanging off during the replacing of the fuse? Somehow nothing worse than an intermittent fault to solve!! Any thoughts welcome.
    Regards

    1. Make sure the 12V battery is fully-charged. Use a charger for AGM batteries, 4A current setting.
    2. Press HARD on the brake pedal when starting the Prius. If this doesn't help, you may need to replace the brake light switch.

Do you guys know now where the DEF relay is located? Is it that blue box in a picture from dorunron?
