I just checked the allocation of some regional dealers here and they all have a carbon-fiber appearance dash added to it. The cost is $279 for this odd option. Has anybody seen this option or have pictures of it? It seems like it is offered on other toyota cars because it ends with -PRIUS.
    Anybody have any info?

    Thanks!!

I have to ask to same question. I have no idea what the Carbon Fiber Appearance Dash is, but I want to know if it's anything besides and appearance thing, does it take something away/add something (compartment wise or otherwise). I've looked over the site a little and this is the only real post that even addresses my question.

    Thanks

It's probably just adhesive sheets of "carbon fibre" stuck onto the dash. Likely, you can buy the adhesive yourself, DIY, and get a few kegs of beer for what the dealership wants to charge. It won't affect the way anything functions. It's an aesthetic item.

I think I've seen a pic or two floating around the net. It's basically like the wood appliqué but simulated carbon fibre instead

Sigma Automotive a (former? where did the sponsor links go?) PriusChat sponsor offers dash trim kits (look near the bottom of the page) in several Carbon Fiber colors, as well as simulated burl, etc. Contact paper works too.

After looking at those samples, I say: De gustibus, etc.

Will they also be offering flame painting on the sides of the Prius?

When I was at the dealership I saw it on a Corolla. It looked much better on the car then it does by itself. Very impressive.

However, I really like the interior look of the Prius. It's very modern looking and goes well with the car, so I opted against wood (and I've had it or put it on every other car I've owned).

I won't bother posting the pictures I just took of my MR2's dash since the previous poster linked his actual Prius dash pictures. My Spyder came with the "official Toyota" carbon fiber dash stick on.

Since the Spyder's dash is black and textured the carbon fiber doesn't look too out of place. Some ricer type people who get in the car rave about the "cool dash". I think it's tacky - it's obviously a very personal accessory. I actually talked the dealer down a few bucks because I'd have to go to the trouble to remove it but haven't bothered...
