I have a Galaxy s2 and can't figure out where to place it. I tried to attach a holder to the right of the shift knob on the passenger side of the center console, but even with Gorilla glue I can't get anything to adhere to the plastic there. I don't really use the phone in the car, but its nice to have a dock to slip it into for charging. What holders are ya'll using? And pics would be helpful.
I'm interested in this too. I have a 5" Galaxy Player that I would like to use with the Torque app, but so far I'm not really sure where to put it. Seems the best place might be the small window via a suction cup mount, but then you have to figure out how/where to run the cable to the power socket.
Hmm, good thought. I can try that. Would be hard to reach if you had to change something, but would be easy to see. Right below that window, there is a fuse box that power could be hard wired into. Will look into that.
After trying to find a good cheap holder for my Galaxy S2, I went with these from Proclip: 854354 Regular Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel for wider devices with or without a skin 875214A ProClip Center Mount 2010-2013 Toyota Prius It's a little pricey - but the adjustable holder is perfect for the S2 (even with my extra large battery on the back), and will adjust for larger (S3?) devices as well. The phones slides into it easily. The center mount clips into the vent opening above the radio/nav (it didn't even need the adhesive strip that it came with), but will not obstruct the view or controls (unless you attach the charging cable or need to put CDs into the radio). I'll try to send pics tonight.
GREAT THREAD ... Been waiting for Galaxy S3 and want to get it mounted properly, so ANY PICS would be much appreciated!
The nice thing is that the holder is adjustable and should work for larger devices (Proclip tries to sell you one specific to a cell phone, but that gets expensive quickly).
That mount looks nice. For me I think it's a bit too far away to reach. I think I'm going to get the Proclip that mounts just to the right of the cup holder. On that I'm going to mount a 4" swivel. I got in on a kickstarter project "Quad Lock" that I'm going to mount to the swivel. From what I can tell that will put the phone at a nice distance. I'm currently using a holder that uses the cup holder and I would really like to get that back. Ken
The ram mount has worked for me. Check out pix on this thread: RAM iPhone mount | PriusChat --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?tb4kb3
I have the galaxy car dock and mount and it fits nice on the small drivers window. I routed the power from under the shifter and up the door to hide the cable. I like it.
DIY iPhone holder - check it out | PriusChat Here's mine, but I don't expect most people having the means to make one. The black version is the current iteration.
OK, that's a top contender. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up that sexy shift knob. That shift knob and the stitching on the Softex are the coolest thing about the interior. VERY NIIIIIICE. THanx for posting...
Here is a Ram Mount Install , I happen to have the Galaxy S3 , I wasn't excited about the phone until I tried it, all day battery life is now possible lol For what its worth....
WOW! Dude, that was pretty crazy! I thought I was a technology guy, but wow ... i'm a novice ... ONE QUESTION: Does the MAP function work with the GS3? Do your text and emails appear on the NAV screen? I was gonna buy one, but that is my main reason for upgrading my phone ... Many Thanks in ADVANCE - Blake
You may want to look at the following link: http://www.proclipusa.com/ I have used this exclusively for many years and it has worked extremely well. They have a very good web site with a ton of pictures and instruction on how to install the holders. They have excellent variety of holders and placement. Good stuff. Cheers
I got one of these desk-sitting holders and stick it underneath the flying buttress. Simple, handy yet invisible, and right next to a power outlet, too. Only problem is I'm always forgetting it's there and leaving it behind.
That does look like a really cool mount for my Garmin GPS, I just wish it wasn't so darned expensive for a little piece of plastic... Thanks for the link! r
You should check out the Wheelmate desk on amazon. You have to read the customer reviews. Wheelmate Laptop Steering Wheel Desk:Amazon:Automotive
I said the same think until I used them. They are a quality product. When you get one you will notice the precise engineering that provides the proper fit. I did not hesitate to get them again when we got our new 2012 Plug-in. They have elegant solutions. And no, I don't work for them. LOL Cheers
