Good info! You can also use a 3rd gen Prius antenna, which is considerably shorter, and not expensive (but not $4!).

I never had a problem with FM , only AM . Toyota replaced 3 radio's under warranty for me. The AM would come in clear for 3-4 months and then I would get static. They stated there was nothing they could do about it.

I'll step in and second this. The Chysler part really does fit, and gives me slightly improved reception over the stock 2009 whippy antenna. It also looks about a billion times better. Really hard to beat the look at the $4 price point. My local Chrysler dealer took two days to get the part, but there was no shipping charge. As it's a block off the highway on my way home, it was an easy pick. Changed it in about ten seconds right in their lot. I'm going to take it back off and put a small dab of adhesive caulk around the bottom edge, but otherwise I'm digging it as is. Less than half the length of the original mast.

Yes the post is a few months old... but I'm gonna keep it alive.

I just ordered my Chrysler $4 antenna, and should be delivered tomorrow. I can't wait to get rid of the long whip OEM factory antenna, I've been looking for a shorty antenna that didn't loose radio reception for over 6 months now... I'm so glad that I ran across this post!

If there is anyone out there looking for a inexpensive good looking short antenna, this is probably one of your better choices.

Nice! Do you by chance have a part number for the Chrysler shorty antenna?

hi, here is the short antenna made of aluminum which I got from ebay for less than Euro6 :

    Product: Aluminum
    Color: Black

    Dimensions: High 55mm (5,5cm)
Width (at the bottom): 14mm (1.4cm) narrowed to 7mm (0,7cm) at the top.

link to the auction on ebay:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200602197523?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Item number: 200602197523MINI CAR AERIAL ANTENNA BLACK ALUMINIUM 55mm STUBBY

note: I had to cut the thread about 3mm-4mm off the length ( I should cut 1mm more really to eliminate gap, see picture)

I like that one! How is the radio reception after you have fitted it?

Well, I made the jump today. I think it makes my 2005 Prius look nicer.

The old unicorn antenna worked fine but the rubber at the bottom was cracking and was pitted. I might take a picture and add it here some time.

Oh, and yep it was $4 plus tax. Got out of there for $4.37

Hi MarvinHC, I didn't do any proper tests, just ordinary usage, work's fine for me.
I don't know if this is a real antenna or just written advert on the box (antenna). It looks like it's just a machined piece of aluminum with thread in it, unless there is sort of built in antenna (would question that for this cost). Looks great, isn't it?.

Cheers, I will give it a try, not much lost anyway for a couple of quid.
And I agree, it looks good.
Will let you know how it works over here on the continent.

Great suggestion; I'm going to buy one this weekend. I was looking at a shark fin, but $4 is much better than $100!

The antenna is the male and the car has the female.

The male is about 5 marks on my tape measure (10ft tape). I'm not good at measuring mm so maybe it's 5mm or 4.75 mm? 3/16" is about 4.75mm so maybe that is it?
