D2203G 7" In Dash Car Stereo DVD Player GPS Navigation

Picked up one of those units to replace the stock system. Wife wanted a aux input I wanted GPS and Bluetooth.

Install went pretty well with out a hitch. I used the Scosche kit Scosche TA2103B 2004-up Toyota Prius Double Din with Pocket and the wire harness SCOSCHE TA02B. Didn't need the steering wheel control interface. The wires from the TA2103B hooked right up to the steering wheel controls. Once I hooked up the wiring harnesses it went together pretty easily. I did have to do some filing of the Storage pocket under the stock radio not the clear part but the black and I also had to file the Scosche side filler panels.

The only issue is that the flip down storage container won't flip down unless I angle the display either 1 position or fully open. When the display is fully closed the clear part won't open, it's like it's locked in place. I kinda like it that way.

It came with Sygic GPS which is ok. The TTS isn't that great though. I'm just using a non-TTS voice.

I've tested the Nav, GPS, Radio, DVD, BT, USB, SD portions of the unit all work.
There is a problem with the RADIO RDS function, it didn't work when I chose America, but works when I chose China. I don't us AM so it's ok. The radio plays with the NAV on, NAV voice plays over the RADIO. It works well. Radio cuts totally off when there is a Phone call on the BT. BT also shuts off the NAV screen. It's ok with me.

OH. The BT also does streaming music. Kinda cool. I don't have a ipod so can't comment on that function or the camera.

Overall for $250 it's nice. Time will tell. I think it sounds better than the stock radio. I'll post some pictures of the install.

Any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

    Hi!

    Where did you by it?
Did you check to make sure it fit your car or did you just take a chance?
    Any downsides so far?

    Hello,
I ordered my unit from ebay. There are lots of the 2 din units available. My unit was shipped from California. I read that others installed a 2 din unit so figured they fit. The brackets that come with the factory installed stereo fit perfectly. Holes and tabs lined up perfectly to connect the brackets to the radio.

No major downsides. The unit comes with a one year warranty. Sounds better than the stock non-JVC radio.

I used ScoscheWire kits I used TA02B (provides basic controls, power/speakers and such), The TA2103 is for the 04-09 Prius I only used the left and right trim pieces and the 6069B wire harness (contains the resistor for A/C system Aux connectors and 3 wires for the steering wheel controls. I can remove this head unit and plug in the stock unit. No cutting of any stock wiring harnesses. I did have to trim the storage panel under the radio.

There are 3 wires in the back of the head unit (ref ground/+/-) I tied those wires to the wires in the scosch 6069B aux harness. (The Scosch 6069B aux harness allows for the AC controls to work (Resistor) and has wiring for AUX Harness there are 3 wires labeled for the steering wheel control. I took a shot and connected them up directly.

In the software in the head unit (under Wheel) You press the button on the steering wheel control then associate a function in the software. I used VOL +/Vol -, MODE, FFWD/FRVD (Skip FWD/Skip Back).

I had to grind down the trim pieces where they touch the radio.

I guess you bought it from "Bargain Car DVD Outlet" on E-bay and they don't ship to Sweden so that's a no-go for that seller. E-bay is a bitch to find what I'm looking for. Whenever I find the perfect item it usually turns out they only ship to the US. Sorting on the different features I like isn't easy with multiple sellers either. Analog TV was shut down years ago and we use both DVBT mpeg2 and 4 depending on channels so that would be nice to have. No SAT radio though. There is DAB (digital audio broadcasting) that started some 15 years ago but it never really took off and only public service stations use it.
I've also been looking at different models at Dealextreme dot com but the ones I like are sold out :( Item SKU 119740 looks nice however...
(to few post to be allowed to post links here)
Not sure I like the idea of opening the panel every time I want to change disc though.

Or maybe I should just go for a lock pick instead....

Yes the head unit had the wires for the steering wheel controls. The stock radio mount fit right up. The little tabs lined up perfectly.

I'm sure one of the sellers will ship to Sweden. Have you checked:

Just an update on this. The original SD card that contained the GPS software died. I ended up getting a new SD card an now using Igo software. I like it a little bit better. The Bluetooth isn't the greatest but works, I've gotten some complaints on from people on the other end of the conversation. it might be road noise, I'm not sure. Again for $250 I'm not complaining.

tato makes a harness that keeps all yor steering wheel buttons working, I'm about to install a double din in my 2005 but since they don't make a dash kit I'm gonna have to custom install it.

Just an update. It's working well. Using Igo for GPS. The original SD Card with software went bad, it was a chinese clone. Picked up another one all is good.
