I have been exploring the whole Chinese franchise concept, and I think they are at least a decade away from actaully being a player in this market. They will have some luck importing under DCX but I just don't see it in the near future.

I have been contacted by a couple of the Chinese companies looking for potetial investors. There are a ton of issues to be dealt with long before any vehicles will be imported. As far as a franchise I have also been in talks at different times with a current toyota dealer and a honda dealer. iI look at it as a means to an end and hate the thought of it, my family has been in the car business for about 80 years and i wnat to keep it that way. I am sure it is one of the reasons I have not done anything to date. The other is dealing with toyota is like dealing with chevrolet about 1980, the arrogance at the wholesale level is crazy.

Hey, if you put BIG, SHINY wheels on it like that, I GUARANTEE that *some* Americans would buy it. Just hopefully no one I know!
Whatever happened to the Chinese SUV the other month they were importing to Germany, but it failed the crash tests so horribly? It would be interesting to see how many people still bought them.

Well, *now* we know what your problem is with Toyota cars. Not the cars at all, really.
