I have a Garmin Nuvi and it changes time zones when you go to another time zone but it is not perfect. Sometimes it takes a little while to do it. It also changed when DST changed, but it missed by a couple of weeks, I guess it didn't follow the changes a couple of years ago.

I also have one of these inexpensive Casio "Atomic" $40 watches that sets itself to the atomic clock in Colorado every night via radio waves. It has bugged me for years why I can buy an even cheaper "atomic" watch from WalMart or Target for $19.95 that will keep perfect time, but in my $30K car I have to reset the radio clock, usually by 50+ minutes because it will be running fast, at least once a month.

Why does this thread remind me of an episode of Northern Exposure where Maurice buys an expensive Antique German Timepiece only to become disgusted with it when he discovers it doesn't keep perfect time?

Big Ben is kept accurate with the employment of pennies.

I know, I know, given the modern technological nature and expense of The Prius I suppose accurate and self updating timepieces aren't unreasonable and probably should be expected.

But I'm old school when it comes to watches and timepieces. I enjoy mechanicals and the random variance that occurs with useage.

How can anyone complain too much about having press a few buttons maybe twice a year? Who is really using their auto as their primary timepiece? Watches, Iphones, Laptops...when was the last time someone asked you what time it was, and then did you have to appologize for not knowing because your "car" wasn't set correctly?

Usually I'm all for holding The Prius to as high a standard as possible, but the fact that the clock in the Prius isn't an atomic clock is one standard I'll have to take a pass on, but since I'd probably enjoy a wind up mechanical in the dashboard more than a perfectly synchronized digital in the dash, I admit that I'm the minority in this issue.

Being blind, I naturally have a Talking Watch, it also is an Atomic Watch, which the maker claims is accurate to within one second over a million years, and I have found the Digital Clock in our Prius to be EXTREMELY accurate, virtually mirroring the accuracy of the watch!

I have NO complaints with the Prius's Digital Clock!

    Are they different in Canada?

    Don't have the factory nav.

Just thought it was funny. I had a little to drink saturday night, and got a ride home. Ran (litterally, only 3.5 miles) to pick up my car sunday morning. My clock, phone, watch all changed to daylight savings time. When I got in my car, I thought wow my watch is wrong its only 11:00am?

My pioneer nav also didn't change. Didn't really miss much of a beat. I needed to be at a conference at 2, and looked at my phone to confirm my watch was really right and car was wrong. Easy to change but can see how it could make someone late. I think my alarm clock cost less than $10, but that is one device where its important to know dst.

For those that seem unable to handle this there is only one solution. Buy a second Prius. Set the clock on one to standard time and the other to DST. Swap as needed. :p

Our Honda Odyssey does it via the Nav system. Its a cool feature. It even changes time for DST, but we had to buy the latest DVD because the US government changed the dates. The Nav also keeps very accurate time.

I have toggled the touch screen to daylight savings, but I still have to make manual time changes. I reported this to my local Toyota service tech and was told it is automatic if you set the touch screen to daylight savings, but mine doesn't work. He called Toyota and they have no fix for this. Let you know if I hear more, but I doubt it.

A great example is Arizona and some of the nations within Arizona.

Arizona shows the Federal government who is boss by refusing to go on daylight savings time.

The Navajo Nation in Arizona shows Arizona who is boss by going on daylight savings time.

The part of the Hopi Nation that is within the Navajo Nation shows the Navaho Nation who is boss by not going on daylight savings time.

I get NPR programs from several stations and switch between them when driving through poor reception areas. They ones out of
Sacramento and San Francisco are 3 or so seconds out of sync. Still good enough for car clock time though:cheer2:

I just heard that Russia has decided to stay on DST all year. We should do the same.
