Clunk in the rear end when getting in.

    After my 2010 Pri sets over night. When I get in the car I hear a loud clunk in the rear end that sounds like frozen brake drums breaking loose. What could this be?? Its summer in Ohio.

    It's the rear pads breaking free from the rear brake rotors. Our Prius always does it after being parked overnight after being washed and parked with wet rotors.

    Mine did it too. After I started using the parking brake it stopped doing it.

    Kind of strange. In 67years this is the first car to do that. And,I have had several with rear disk brakes!

    Are you parked on a bit of slope? And parking brake set but not too tight?
