If there's something bugging you (like.. why is the dome light on for such a short time or why is the auto-headlights slow to respond or why does the Auto A/C always switch to recirc automatically or is there another way of opening the rear hatch), then this is the PDF for you!

It's my car - why am I not allowed to change these settings?
Why do I have to go to a dealer?
Why isnt there an edit function on the MFD?
Why isnt every PRIUS supplied with an edit box?

THanks for letting us know it's available :)

You can buy one, it's just that they are a bit pricey.

I don't know. My dealer doesn't even know you can change stuff. <_<. Seriously, it would save a lot of time at the dealer if we had a small menu to personalise our car. Dealers hate doing it cause it's not getting them any money. They'd rather do maintenance and oil changes.

Oh and feel good that Toyota doesn't charge because Lexus does charge for you to change personalised settings after the first year of ownership.

Double checked. It opened when I clicked it too (Adobe v. 7 and FF v. 2.0 if that matters)

What I'd like to know (and can't find here) - is it possible to set the auto a/c button so it's not really auto anymore? On auto, the blower comes on way too high. I rarely want the blower above level 2 or 3. The need to use (and look at) the mfd screen seems a dangerous distraction (I know I should do it when stopped, but sometimes I need to turn it on and adjust the blower speed while driving). If they couldn't put a control on the steering wheel, a simple slide switch or knob would have been better in my book.

just press any fan speed button and it's out of auto mode (the "MODE" is still automatic until you touch a button on that too).

I want that hand held tester!

    (o) These options can be adjusted FREE at our dealership?

    (o) Any of these options have a manual easter egg?

    (o) Does the auto lock delay function only work when the car is off and fob out of range?

"just press any fan speed button..."
Yes, I know, but doing that, and every adjustment, has to be done on the touch screen (which can't be done by just touch), and requires pushing the "climate" button first, too (also requiring looking). I don't think we should have to take our eyes off the road for this frequently needed action.

    With my '07 TCH:

The dealer offered to set these things only once (in the first year). After that, it would be approx $60 per visit.

    Easter egg:
The SMART UNLOCK (SMART door unlock mode)
Setting an operation to unlock a door with SMART function.
On the TCH, opening the Driver's door w/ Smart Key System, unlocks only the Driver's door. The customization allows opening the Driver's door to unlock all doors. This can be done by the user: (Caveat: I don't know if this works on Prius Smart Key models.)
With POWER off and FOB within 3 ft of front door: on FOB, press LOCK button and either ALARM, TRUNK, or UNLOCK button simultaneously and hold for five seconds. Answer of 2 beeps means that all doors will unlock. 3 beeps: Only driver's door. Settings will change every time you perform this procedure.
Concerning Auto Lock Delay: On the Camry Hybrid, it is designed that if you unlock the car, but don't open the door in the set time 30/60 seconds, the door will automatically relock (even if you are still standing beside the door).

I just tried the thing that Easter Egg was refering to, on my 2007 Prius, and it worked. Now when I open the front door, all the doors unlock. Nice for a family with kids!

It was the unlock and alarm buttons....

We rarely have a huge need for a lot of A/C right now, so we set the temperature differential a degree or two below outside and work it slowly down from there. It takes a while and it takes a lot of presses of the A/C steering wheel button, but if you don't want to use the MFD then I guess that's as good as you'll get.

Is Passive Mode under the security setting the alarm that is installed in every Prius but only generally turned on when you buy the glass sensor? My dealer is either stupid or trying to sell me an alarm that is already installed.

The dealer isnt stupid. He is just trying to make a living . Unfortunately he wants to do it by selling you something you already have.

This didn't work on my '08 smart key touring... From the description, I am guessing the key fob is different (no trunk button on mine). Anyone figure out if there is a different combo to do this without going to the dealer?

Well isn't that something! On long distance drives we've noticed this draft and it drives us crazy, especially during cold weather! Guess I'll ask my mechanic if he's got the diagnostic tool...
