The manual (p 102) says the Prius headlights turn on at reduced intensity when the parking brake is released. Does this apply to the HID equipped models? Doesn't seem to work on mine.

That's referring to the Daytime Running Lights that were planned to be installed on the US version but weren't. Just disregard that page in the book :)

blah... now that's 3 things in the book that didn't make it. als/dsp/drl.
i say toyota spend a few more bucks and stock all cars with reprinted manuals. i hope there isn't anything else.

not disgruntled, just thinking anything i spend more than 1k on should have recent docs.

DRL is for canadian vehicles only. Because of that, they also get the auto-on headlights. But because of DRL, they don't get HID's, since they're not configured to run at reduced output.
