Yes, its packaged in a box inside another box filled with (I think) vermiculite or something similar, I guess in case it leaks in transit.

Per my brother (who does NOT teach Physics)

Imbeciles! They've got it all wrong! It's the 15mm Billiwinkles that cushion the larger electrons while they're in the drum; that what adds to the cost and time!
Due to their delicate atomic structure, it takes 52 full sized Billiwinkles in the drum for every three of the larger electrons to be miniaturized.
It can take over one hundred years to grow a Billiwinkle tree to maturity.
    What's wrong with these people?

I had a similar event with the hatch not completely shut but the cargo light was off as I turn is off until I really need it. So, I don't know why it drained. Charged up and so far so good:D

Oh, yes, dealers are all over on the batter price. I called Toyota and they would not give me a MSRP for it. Instead, I was told, it is up to the dealers.

The dealer on Guam quoted me $326 -- oh, and it wasn't in stock and would be special order (typically about 30 days). That was all the motivation I needed to call eLearnaid.com for their Optima kit.

Even without a light, the battery draw is higher with an open door or hatch. The Prius thinks it is about to see some action and remains in a heightened state of readiness. Normally it drops into a standby mode, which saves power.

Hi there GK. I was just wondering what was the shipping cost of the elearnaid battery to Guam. I'm thinking about getting them to ship one to Australia.

It was pretty cheap -- about $20 IIRC. Then again, we get US Mail. If you contact them I'm sure they ccould give you a quotation though.

For others - remember to keep the key in your pocket while doing this.

As soon as I applied the jumper cables the car locked all the doors and started honking the horn. I had left my key sitting on the drivers seat
