I just switched from 2008 Prius II to 2014 Prius Plug-in.

I still have the snow tires from the Gen II Prius which are off-rims 185/65-15.

The Gen III PiP came with 195/65-15 stock tires.

My question is - can I mount the old snow tires which are 185, on the new rims, which are for 195? What would be the impact to ride quality/fuel economy etc?

I also use snow tires, but have them on their own rims. I am sure there is a negative mileage impact, but since it is colder and the roads are generally in worse condition when the snow tires are on, it is hard to put a number to. As always, safety first...I would not drive in winter without them.
