This cabin filter has to be about the easiest ones to change. I used to have a '98 Seville and I wouldn't wish changing that one on anyone. It used to take about 2 hours.

Gen II cabin filters can be found on ebay for about 7.00 to 10.00 with shipping and are easy to replace.

The filter from Amazon arrived at my door today and I also got a mailer from a local dealer offering a coupon for a $59.99 cabin filter change.
It was easy to install even though the dampener fell off again when putting the glove compartment door back on. I have pictures now of how the dampener attaches.
The only issue is that the instructions in the box said the arrow should point down, but that's the opposite of how the old one was installed, so I put it in the same way as the one I removed (the side with intersecting lines facing up). Maybe the arrow should point down on a Camry since that was the example car in the instructions that came with the filter box.

Has anyone found a place online or brick and mortar that sells the cabin air filters for the Gen III that is NOT ebay?

Anywhere that sells WIX filters - Cabin Filter #24483 per their website. I'd imagine by now there are other ones as well. Their charcoal equivalent of that filter is #24511. Hope that helps some.

Many on here, including me, have found Fram's at Walmart.

Any particular kind of Fram filter? Is there a specific model number?

Fram CF 10285. It is a charcoal filter. About $18.00.

I don't think Fram CF10285 is the right one for 2010/2011 Prius. The right model should be Fram CF9846A.

The 2010 Prius has a tray for cabin air filter. CF10285 is for trayless model, such as Lexus ES.

The video from Fram is misleading.

The 2010 doesn't have a tray for the filter, it just sits in the box. I took it apart last night and know this for sure, so would 10285 be the right one?

The 2010+ cabin filter is also used in some Subarus, too.

The CF 10285 looked just like the OEM and slid right in with no problem. It was also the one listed in the computer for the 2010 Prius. Not sure where you are getting your info.

I agree with jdcollins5. I looked at the dimensions on Amazon for the CF10285 and it shows:8.9x8x1.5 inches. For the CF9846A it shows:9.8x8.9x1 inches. These are very different sizes. Looking at the Fram look-up at: FRAM - Application Look-up, it says to use the CF10285 for the 2011. For some reason the filter listing in the Fram application look-up for the 2010 is missing. I checked the Toyota website and verified that the 2010 uses the same filter as the 2011.

Here is the link to the Toyota cabin air filter publication with the 2011 updates: http://www.toyota.com/pub-share/pdf/CabinAirFilters2011-LowRes.pdf
It shows 2 cabin air filters for all the Prius models. There is a Standard filter and a Premium filter. The Standard filter is either a "Pollen" filter or an "Electrostatic" filter. The Premium is a "Charcoal Filter". For the 2010 and after, there is a footnote to use the Premium charcoal filter as the warranty replacement part. I have noticed that some vendors are selling the Standard and some are selling the Premium as a replacement. (Don't pay the Premium price for the Standard filter.)
For 2010 and beyond the Toyota part number for the Standard cabin filter is 87139-YZZ08. The part number for the Premium filter number is 87139-YZZ10. Check the link for earlier model Prius cabin filter part numbers from Toyota.

Hi. Sorry. I was wrong about the model number.

I removed the glove box. The cabin air filter in 2010 Prius is trayless.
Then CF 10285 is the correct model.

Had this issue with the damper several months ago. 5 minutes of Googling found photos showing damper replacement.

That's nice for you, but I searched for way longer than 5 minutes and found several websites with people complaining about it with Camrys and Tundras, but no photo of the damper replacement on a Gen III Prius.
Now there is a photo I posted in this thread so it will be easier for the next person next time.

I just tried to replace this air filter, and the clip on the right side of the opening came off. It originally clipped to the door that swung open, it came off from the inside peg, now I cant see how it went back together?

I've been doing this for years and a little surprised I have not seen it here yet.

For my Sienna I just buy a HomeDepot 24x30x1 furnace filter. It can be any degree of cleanning I want right up to a very fine hepa filter.

I then cut the right size out with tin snips to cut the wire that hold the filter shape.

I get about 6 filters out of that one filter for $13.00.

I will now use it for the new 2011 prius as well.

The beauty of this is I can change it more often based on my seasons air quality. About every 3 to 6 months.

You can google "cheap yaris cabin air filter" 09/21/2009 for one example of what I mean.

    Works great.
