hmmmm... It looks like the oem bottom of the mirror is black. The way they put mine together, there is a tab on the bottom part of the white cover that they have lapped over the black bottom, right by the mirror stalk (between the stalk and the lens/light part of the cover). It's just a small tab, but it obviously needs to be stuck inside the mirror instead of poking out. I woulda never noticed it if I wouldn't have been underneath my mirrors doing something out in my garage. Looks like they just missed the slots inside each mirror where those tabs are supposed to stick.

I had the gen II that had the signal mirror covers. It didn't have puddle lamps. I have a Lexus that has them both with the power fold.

wow 80 mins that is record time ... but then i guess once you do a few it is alot faster :D. i just finish putting in the puddle lights and yeah the wire behind ecu is not for the guy with thick fingers or big hand or tall guy.

Here is what i figure out is that the connector that you will be tapping will be the lower one/ connector closest to the floor. What you do is start with the top connector. You place your finger on the top edge of the connector and move little down with fingernail to metal indentation tab and push down then you can push the top edge down and pull the black piece of the connector out and the rest of plug comes out. This is the first time i see this kind of plug. Once you have the top plug out then you proceed to the bottom plug and repeat the process of removal.

Here is example of the metal tab that you push down.

Once you have it off then take the pink/red tape off the connector and for MODEL 2 the blue wire is located between 2 black wires as shown in the following pic from another member here.

Go ahead and tap that blue wire with the black wire from both left and right puddle. I combined the 2 black wire into splice in one end and have one black wire on other end of splice to tap into the blue wire of ecu. Make sure to have the tap atleast 1 inch away from the connector to allow bend of connector into ecu.
Then I combined the 2 white wires from puddle into splice again and one white out of splice going to pin 24 white wire with little red stripe on connector on driver side.

Go ahead and close doors and make sure puddle lights work and then tie wrap and close up all panels.
Man now the car looks nice :D Glad to finally have it done. I will take a pic of puddle light when i can.

thanks for the writeup! Installed them this week, and great at night. The only negative are the lights are pretty dim during the daytime.

$20 is how much the ebay seller charges for the paint job so he got his money back.

Tim, I was going over this very long thread preparing to add signal mirrors to my 2012, when I noticed your comment on a tilt passenger mirror. I just successfully added a KP Technologies mirror tilt module and it was pretty easy (although I customized a bit). Without reading every post in every thread, it is hard to tell if you went ahead with this or not. I too liked the tilt function from an old BMW and wanted to try it again.
