Pardon my ignorance---new to this whole Prius subculture---but I have a new (Gen III) with the NAV system. Living in Phoenix, the glare is so awful on the screen that the colors are washed out and I can barely see it. I see where they make a hood that covers it, but would that not allow you to put a CD in the player? The screen goes out and opens up to put a CD in. Thanks for your replies! Don't want to order it if it don't work.

I think all you need to do is adjust the screen. There is a wheel just up from the left knee that rolls up or down. Also it will lock in the upper position. Also if you have your headlights on during the day also effects the screen. Hozz

I purchased one of the screen hoods and I really like it. It really does reduce the sun glare and makes viewing the screen much easier. It is made from the same plastic as the dash board (gray) and blends in very nicely. It attaches with Velcro which is included.

Please note, I purchased this through PruisChat Shop and I am not very happy at this point. I purchased the hood, a bumper guard, the stiffening plate and the BT Tech Strut on June 1st. I received the hood and bumper guard right away but not the stiffening plate. Finally I did receive a box with 2 struts (orderd 1), but no braces or the socket I ordered. I used their message center to send an e-mail, but got no response. There is no phone number that I could find to call anyone. Finally I sent another message to the returns department and did get a response. They were going to contact the manufacturer and get back to me. That was 5 days ago. :(

I also got a hood for my navi & LOVE it. We found that turning the wheel to brighten the screen did not help the glare. For as often as we insert a CD, we just remove the hood for a moment. It's a very small price to pay for having the hood be tight and solid blocking the glare.:)

Unfortunately, we still haven't received a response from BT Tech about the issue. As you may know, Brian @ BT Tech passed away a few weeks ago and the last month or so has been hard for his wife, Betsy, as she continues to run the business.

Please feel free to contact Betsy directly at 305-652-3115 to get the situation sorted out faster. Sometimes our vendors work faster for the customer directly than for us :)
