I laughed when I finally got the Hertz airport rental agency earlier this week. What car do they give me? A Dodge Magnum HEMI station wagon. It was like the exact polar opposite to my Prius. It's all they had.

Let me tell ya, this big car has a huge appetite for gas. I went 208 miles which came out to be about 10 gallons (or I just 1/2 of the cars tank). I really hated driving it. What's odd is that I had cars honking at me/flashing their lights, etc. while I was going the speed limit. This happened like 4 - 5 times on I-5. I kept on wondering if I was doing something wrong or did I have something hanging outside of the car? No I was fine. I was in Sacramento so I thinks that's why I got so much attention????

I have to admit I did see many Prius's while I was in California. That's cool. I also like the special parking spaces they have in malls for all electric cars. I'm really glad I pursuaded myself not to get a muscle car years ago. I do really like what the Prius has to offer.

    Well,

what do you expect? Dodge, as far as I'm concerned, is still in the olden days, and they can't escape the notion that muscle is better than everything else.

Yes in a nice I way I was implying the Dodge Magnum "sucks" and that the Prius is an intelligent choice.

I think the problem was that you were going the speed limit and you're from WA. I lived in Puget Sound areea of WA state for 7.5 years. I found people (IMHO) drive too slow there, don't seem to understand the concept of fast and slow lanes and yielding to cars piling up behind them. I've driven by the Sacramento area and IMHO, a lot of folks drive way too fast there (compared to the Bay Area).

On any freeway in Cali, esp. if you're in So. Cal, if traffic is moving freely and you're going the speed limit, you'd better be in the slowest lane or 2nd from slowest.

    Sounds about right.

Lane 1: for those traveling 80mph+
Lane 2: for those traveling over 80mph zigzagging passing those in lane 1
    Lane 3: 65mph, truckers
Lane 4: for those trying to speed up and cross 3 lanes at once, entrants, exiters (?), truckers.

    sigh.

On the brighter side, did the car have a nice torquey kick?

I was browsing around the local dodge dealer (I wanted to test drive the Charger) and the salesman started showing me the Magnum...I said "That's a station wagon". The dealer was NOT pleased.....

Dodges are so gross, the magnums and some other of their cars have like plastics on the interior that look like they were just ripped out of a playground.

Gotta love the "Must have 5 posts before you can add a link" rule.

    Anyway...

It's not necessarily better. Some people actually WANT a car that has enough power to do more than get out of its own way.

While I know opinion is purely subjective, I don't see where the Prius interior is oh-so superior.

Just FYI troll, if you're going to post, post a current model not the 2001-2003 model:focus:

How about you post up a pic and "wow" me. :)

At the end of the day, we're still talking about a Prius. It's not a Mercedes. I seriously doubt the interior is really all that much more impressive than any Chrysler product regardless of year model.

What the hell was that comparison about? Between those two pics, the Prius looks far better. Theres only one thing thats good about the Magnum compared to the Prius - space. Lots of space. If the Prius had as much legroom as the Magnum, I think there would be like 90% fewer complaints about it.

As already mentioned, looks are subjective and opinion based. But I have to agree that comparing a Toyota Prius to a Dodge Magnum is honestly beyond asinine. Thus the reason I posted at all if the truth be told.

I'll bite on this. The 2010 Prius and the 2009 Magnum.

And that's the cheap Prius: no Nav system and MFD display.

Yeah, I was desperately trying to find a decently-sized photo before I had to start working.
