Is your build date prior to mid-October 2009?

Got the notice yesterday and have an appointment Sat. No loaner. :(

I suspect they may not petform the work for whatever reason, like the undercover, and I.M. ordeal. So I was hoping to appeal to those who had it performed if they would be so kind as to list the dealer's name and a contact # so I can use that to convince.
    Thanks

OK. Contact your dealer, you do not have to wait or the letter.

Took my 2010 Pirus III in at 7:00 am. It was not ready until 5:00 pm. They changed the booster and Master Cylinder. I was not aware of any problems beforehand.

What is the brake pedal travel, when the car is turned off after the recall is done? The pedal travels to the floor. After pumping the pedal there is about a 1 inch to the floor then slowly travel to the floor. Is this right? The dealer is telling me that's the way it should be.

We got ours done today. They replaced Brake Booster Pump Assembly and Brake Fluid.

Went ok I think. I haven't driven it yet, but my wife thinks EVERYTHING feels better, the ride, the brakes, and so on, LOL.

Nothing about that sounds right. "Pumping"? You mean repeatedly?

Not right at all. I'd go back and request in writing signed documentation stating your exact complaint and them stating it's normal. Then go to another dealership or a third party shop to have them diagnose the issue. After that call up Toyota and make a complaint.

I understand but don't agree with dealerships saying things are normal to avoid paying for warranty repairs but brakes are nothing to mess around with. Huge safety issue.

    Keep us posted!

Took my car in yesterday and they verified that I needed the new assembly by checking the part number of the old one. Put the new one on order gave me a free car wash and said they would call when it came in, probably next week. I was also told that I would get a brake fluid change to go with the new booster pump/accumulator.

Just dropped mine off. When I called yesterday to make the appointment the lady said that it would just be an hour or so to determine if it "needed" it. I get there and the SA said, oh it will take all day if not into tomorrow! What? He said they will just do the work. He said all that have come it needed to be replaced. Great, I wish the lady just mentioned that yesterday. Had to call the wife to come get me (out of range of the courtesy van and no loaner). But I am glad they are going to do the work.

Work done, accumulator and brake fluid replaced. No real noticeable difference thought the pump seems to run less and pumps up faster... Anyway all my stats were wiped because the battery was disconnected... be sure to get the information down before surrendering the car.

If you go back there, or another dealer who might want your business more, then have the service guy try the brake action and then immediately try a new showroom car to compare. Since the brake systems would then be "new" in both cars, theirs and yours, it should compare exactly.

And ask for stuff signed and in writing. Once people know your documenting or have something with Thier john Hancock on it they change.

I finally received my notice yesterday, and I can't find any mention of a possible brake master cylinder replacement.

I'll schedule the work this coming week.

my letter said it will be inspected and replaced if necessary whatever that means... but someone pointed out that if the problem is not there now but occurs later the same rules apply namely they will fix/replace at no cost to you.. I know it is somewhat scary to have a possible break issue

The car I got the letter for WAS replaced already and I have a 2012 model which do not have this issue... the older was 2009 april-may build I got it in July ...
