Hello, I'm new here from Southern California, just got the car two weeks ago. I live about a mile from the ocean. I had vaguely heard that driving around close to the ocean most of the time - with the salty sea air - is not really good for the car corrosion-wise. Any take on this?

I live and work somewhat close to the ocean, so my commute pretty much isn't far away from the coast. Even my kids' preschool is walking distance from the surf (Pacific Coast Highway). If it is bad what precautions should I take?

I also live/commute close to sea water. I heard most places in Japan are also "close" to sea water. I don't think you have a thing to worry about.

Anything close to the ocean will suffer from accelerated corrosion - the Prius is no exception. It's nothing to worry about, but it is part of the price you pay for living near the water.

Look around you at all the cars on the road. They all drive close to the ocean and most of them look great even when they are old gen 1 models on the road more many years.

Winter driving is much worse, in states like mine where we use salt.

Sea air varies. In some locations you get spray, which will definitely cause problems. Other locations have a lot of moisture, which isn't as bad as salt spray, but it does induce rust. A lot of California is essentially desert, even fairly close to the ocean. In these locations the ocean isn't going to matter, unless you drive on the beach.
