Congratulations Steve, I think you will really enjoy the solar package and all that it encompasses. I would be like a kid waiting on Santa Claus until I actually took delivery on it.:welcome:

So Arkie, looks like you have the same car. What's your biggest surprises so far, one bad, one good?

I just bought a 2012 Prius Four with the Solar Roof package last Saturday, so can I play, too?

    Good:
Love the auto headlights. I was very surprised the first time I pulled into a parking structure and the lights came on. :D And I thought the HUD would be distracting, but I've come to love it as well. I love the whole car, actually.

    Disappointments:
With the "premium" navigation, there's no display for individual tire pressure as there is with the display audio - there's only the idiot light on the dash. And the navigation voice command list is very much shorter than the display audio nav that comes in the lower packages. There are some other differences with the nav that I think will take some getting used to.

Over all, I'm very happy. :)

I actually like everything about it, HUD, solar roof , nav system, Softex seats , I like it all.

Dislike, nothing really stands out. This is my first hybrid and I am really liking everything it encompasses.

The premium nav on the Prius doesn't display individual tire pressures at all? That would make it different from the premium nav on the 2012 HyCam XLE...

What is the display audio that shows the individual tire pressure? Is that a different option on a different build? (I never understood what "display audio" meant--the word display implies visual, but audio implies sound. ???)

As near as I can tell, the Prius builds have two kinds of audio/nav/display systems in them, and I'm using Toyota's terms here:

    1) "Display Audio with Navigation" is the standard 6.1" touch screen with the DVD-based nav. I assume the "display" in the name just refers to the touch screen, although it does display audio information as well. It comes with a button labeled "Car" with which you can display the fuel consumption for this trip and the tire pressure for each tire.

    2) "Premium HDD Navigation" increases the screen size to 7" and adds split-screen capability. Although there are a wealth of other buttons to push, the "Car" button is missing. There's an "Info" button under which the fuel consumption can be found, along with stuff like weather and traffic. There's no display of individual tire pressure, although there's an idiot light on the dashboard that will come on if one or more tires are low. The navigation system is different from the one packaged with the Display Audio option, and the "Premium" system has a drastically reduced number of voice commands available in map mode.

There are probably other differences, but those are the ones I know about. I have a 2012 Prius Four with the solar roof, so I have the Premium HDD Nav system. I only know about the change in voice commands because my 2005 had essentially the same nav system as the Display Audio option.

The manuals are available at Toyota Owners Official Website: Service Coupons, Owners Manuals, Service Scheduling and More if you want more info. The Display Audio manuals are under the "owner's manual" tab, and the Premium HDD Nav manuals are under the "navigation manuals" tab.

DA with nav is flash-based I believe, no more DVD-based navigation.
