traded in at toyota dealer. 130k. runs like a champ. looks like it lived it's life in new york city. i need an MFD and do not know which to get. i have no lock button on outside of door latch so i assume no SKS. how do i tell whether or not i have nav, etc with no owners manual and barely functional display? or are all MFD's same-same from 04-09 like some ebay listings say? or should i just pull it and fix it since i fix copiers for a living?

You have a base model, no navigation

    Which year is it?

Chances are you have the base, so no navigation. Nav was only available pretty high in the trim levels. Without Nav, you should have two buttons on each side of the MFD bezel. The nav-equipped cars have more buttons on either side (4 on the left, 3 on the right, I believe).

Look at page two of the 2004 Prius brochure, to figure out your package. LINK

Consider downloading the owners manual from Toyota; unfortunately/fortunately its in sections.

Are you trying to add Navigaton or just use a later model MFD as a replacement for you current MFD? I dont know if the MFDs are interchangeable, but someone w/ more insight might know and chime in.

If you are trying to add factory Nav, look in Accessories & Modifications, and Audio and Electronics. I believe people have done this.

The MFD has a higher resolution starting with MY 2006.

does anybody know for sure if the later model MFD will work in the 04-95 cars? they apparently all have the NAV plug on the back of them, whether equipped with nav or not.

Have you tried calling your local Toyota parts department to see if the part number for your model year Mfd is the same for Nav and w/o Nav?

You can look online as well. Many Toyota dealerships run an online site.

Steve at autobeyours has used MFDs and might know.
