I have the carpeted floor mats, but quickly decided I did not want to keep them in the car due to two little kids. They're just too light-colored (the mats, not the kids) and picked up every hint of mud and grime and pollen. We bought a cheapie set from Wal-Mart in dark grey to match the dash and I think the color works okay. The mats aren't fitted at all, so I'm going to get a set which is actually made for the car. Question is - what color should I get? The graphite color, or a darker tan?

Also, anyone have recommendations for carpeted mats? I don't want rubber ones because I like to take my shoes off on long drives. And yes, my feet smell like roses.

I was at a car "fashion" shop today and saw several great after-market mats for the Prius. One was even shaped rubber/plastic with carpet over it, so it could catch and hold liquid spills. I don't remember the brand.

Go for dark tan or brown - the mud and dirt won't show as much.

I went with the all-season Toyota mats in black. I like the look and I definitely like being able to keep the car clean.

I highly recommend the WeatherTech FloorLiner DigitalFit mats, front, back and cargo area. They are a perfect fit and really keep the crud off the carpet.

I concur with that. They stop a little short of the pedal, to prevent floormat interference issues, but that means the carpet under the pedals gets kind of dirty (but the rest stays clean).

I'm very happy with my Cocomats.

They are expensive but look great, hide dirt well and are easy to clean. They also have a heavy rubber backing so they will never bunch up or slide around (no threat of trapping the accelerator pedal). Here's a photo:

I agree. These mats where the best purchase I have made for my Prius. If you are likely to encounter spills or work outdoors like I do they are your best bet for protecting your carpet! I've also found that when I track cow manure in on my boots it is easy to remove with just a squirt of the hose and a stiff brush at most. The soft rubber type mats are nice for city folk but won't cut it for me. :p
