    I don't know where they get their "classes" from in the table. They call a Prius and Cruze a "small" car yet they're classified as midsized at Side-by-Side Comparison They call a Jetta TDI a midsize, yet it's classified as a compact by the EPA.

    Curiously, the compact Jetta and midsize Cruze have identical passenger and luggage volume per the above URL. Maybe they're not but look that way due to rounding?

    Safest way to get over 40mpg: fly on a commercial jetliner. They get like 50 miles per passenger gallon (or more). And the most dangerous part is having to drive to the airport.
