What are you guys using for front end protection? My 14 Prius 3 with 3k miles on it already has a very small chip on the front bumper. I've seen the clear front end skins on cars, is this a dealer installed option?

It's called paint protection film, in my opinion it's mandatory on the Prius. I had it installed professionally on my 08 and my 13. It's a little pricey but I have no more stone chips.

Look at the attached image. Each piece of tape marks a stone chip in my new Prius. I had the car nearly 5 months when I had the PPF installed.

As 13plug mentioned....I would not drive another mile without the clear bra installed! I had 13 miles on my odometer when I pulled into the shop that did mine. I went a little over board. 85% of my entire nose is covered! There were 3 ferrari's in the lot waiting for complete wraps from bumper to bumper!

    Touchup paint is relatively cheap.
They even have it in Habanero Orange. :)

Yeah but more work overall. I had over 20 chips in the first 5 months of ownership, I used the Toyota touch-up paint to "fix" them before having the film applied.

I'd rather not have to deal with touchup paint though. I found a place in Aurora that would do the leading edges of the car & tint my windows for $300. When I lived in the South, "Lovebugs" were your worst enemy and would tear paint up if you didn't clean it right away. Looks like in CO, rock chips may be the issue here.

Sure if you want but it's "temporary" compared to the films.

Warrantied for 5 years in my case but lasts a lot longer.

p.s. I didn't have the dealer do the latest one, I went with an independent guy.
