    I'm getting this warning light coming up frequently - it's the same light that appears when I engage the footbrake.

    Does this mean something thing is about to catastrophically fail?

    Note that I have recently had the ABS booster replaced as it failed.

    So something is causing the car to register the foot rake as being engaged?

    Something somewhere in the braking system is wrong, get it checked ASAP.

    Gen 2 started with Model year 2004 in the U.S. market. But certain countries label them by the actual calendar year of production, so in England and some of its commonwealth cohorts, some Gen 2s are labeled as 2003s.

    The handbook states::eek: The following warning indicates a possible problem in the brake system. Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Toyota dealer.
    * low brake fluid
    *malfunction in the brake system ---- this light also comes on when the parking brake is not released.
    If the light turns off after the parking brake is fully released, the system is operating normally.

    Check it out first for possible fix; if not, take your Prius to the repair shop.:(
    Hope this helps you!!:)

    Thanks for that! By immediately stop I assume they mean continue driving as if nothing is wrong for a fortnight?

    Car is in the shop, will post back when there is a resolution.

    by immediately stop, since your brakes are broken, they mean put your foot out the door and use the friction brake.

    I just had to jump the battery on my Prius. Since then the gas gauge says empty and the last digit is blinking. My full tank has maybe 5 miles on it. What does this mean??

    Best to open a new thread for your question, unlikely to get many answers here, on an unrelated thread.

    Just drive the car and the correct fuel gauge reading should come back after a few minutes. When 12V battery power is interrupted, the fuel gauge memory is lost and the correct reading takes a few minutes to be established after power is restored.
