Looks really good, but would probably look even better with a bit of a drop.

I kinda dig the no-tint look with the BR paint. Looks super clean. I take back what I said in the other thread - maybe adding LRMs would spoil the look.

Thanks. I am definitely going to install the LRMs because it would help tie in the silver from the wheels, and (soon) the silver accents from the Valenti CRs.

Yeah, if you're gonna do accents then the LRMs will look great.

If you don't plan on dropping the car then use 205/50/17 tire. It is the same diameter as the OE 15" tire. It has a slightly taller sidewall than the 215/45/17 which is the OE tire on the model Five. It tends to fill the wheel well better. The 215/45/17 looks too thin on a non-lowered car and it increases the wheel well gap. :)

To illustrate my point above, here is my stock height 2012 with 215/45/17 tires. I have more gap than Brit.... Err NM. lol

Seriously, it's not that bad from a layman's perspective but for us modded it is a large gap.

F8, it really doesn't look bad at all (the gap that is). To me it looks as good & natural as the V w/ stock 17's. And the more I look at your rims, the more I'm liking it:). BTW, did I hear u wanto polish up the wheels cuz it's looking pretty shiny to me;).

I think the tint guy screwed up and put 35% or 40% on when he retinted the fronts. It looks darker than the 50% I had on there. It looks good but I'm sure I'll get a ticket eventually. It's a little lighter than those two pictures make it appear.

Thanks, bro. :) The Five does look nice even at stock height. When rolling you really noticed the Fives because the wheel looks so much bigger.

From a distance the wheels look ok. Up close (few feet away) you can see that they need a good polishing. I started working on them today so that The Critic will still be willing to put them on his car for our test. They just need more elbow grease. Did I mention how nice these tires are? lol

Man you guys treat gap like it's some sort of disease.

But it's okay, I do too. Sometimes I have bad dreams that my wheel gap is increasing!

:D It's a well known fact of life that as you get older parts start to sag. Your springs are no exception.

I guess I couldn't tell from the pictures as they were so shiny I thought they were chrome:p. I don't have the perspective of standing close & seeing it or knowing as u know how shinier they can be so I totally understand. And yes, I have heard positives on tires. I'll bet your having more fun on em & as a result burning more fuel at the moment;).

I'm having more fun in the sense that every time I walk back to my car from a store I see how good it looks with the larger wheels and how it stands out from other Prii in the area. :)

The mpg has not been nearly as bad as I expect. I mean the last tank was 56.4mpg (indicated) so I'm not burning too much extra fuel. Once I swap tires with The Critic I will know what the real drop is since he is running the most fuel efficient tire we know of. If I pull mid 60mpg with his wheels/tires then I'll swap back to 15s. lol

Have wheel envy in watching this thread....

Never bought aftermarket wheels for any other car. Never really needed to, my other cars had decent stock alloy wheels.

Sort of like the wheel covers on the 2012 P2. Add to that if I do a rub against a curb it is a less expensive "fix".

You're going to suffer a loss now matter what tire you get. Running your current tires down then buying a longer lasting LRR tire is likely the most economical thing to do. For new tires you may want to look at the Yokohama YK580 or Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Both come in a 225/40/18. The DWS is also available in a 215/40/18 Which may be more fuel efficient because it is narrower. I say may because no one has ever tested the idea.

Wow, 56.4 on 17's is fantastic. I wish I can get that on my 17's. The 1 big thing I miss is looking at my 17" wheels as they do look so much better than the 15" stock. Well that & better handling:D. I'll have the 17's & the euro mudguards I recently painted on next week. I'm taking a trip on the pri for the memorial weekend & want to take advantage of the extra mpg:). Originally, I was going to sell the stockers w/ the almost new tires but now I'm getting used to the idea of having an extra set of wheels.
