How about combined sea and land ice mass?

How about the separate pieces, Arctic sea ice, and total Antarctic ice mass as revealed by Grace?

As grounded ice is diminishing just about everywhere that has been examined, I am glad that the Southern Ocean is holding its own, and that mojo provides this helpful information.

But why point us to an affinity website instead of the actual sources of science? mojo's selective distaste for such (other than the ones he likes) might be getting just a bit tiresome.

The Southern Ocean (doing whatever it wants) is icy and giving high reflectivity (albedo). This may work to our advantage, as we dither about limiting CO2 increase and its certain effects on global energy balance. Looks good to me. Go, Southern Ocean, Go! Save us from our folly, if you can.
