    Hi all,

Got my first Prius today. It is a basic 2005 model with no extras, although cruise control comes standard here in Europe. It has 60.000 Km on the clock, and I love this car. I payed 17.500.- Swiss franks for it (about $17.000.-) which is considered a good price here. The only thing missing is an aux port so I can hook up my iPhone 3G. Do not see that happening as the sterio is VERY basic, only radio and CD button (no aux button, no CD changer button, no nuthin) I am also wondering where to fasten my TomTom XL navigation system. The front windshield is a bit far away, somewhere on the dash would be better.

Unfortunately I can not post a pic. Will add one after 5 posts :)

    Hallo, Will Tell.
From my memory, you are the second Schweitzer here on PriusChat. :welcome: Willkommen

I find myself in Zug and Zurich occasionally for work. I have yet to make the festival in Lucern but hope to this year.

Get comfortable. There is a lot to read here!

    Hello and welcome to PriusChat!

Well I actually fasten my TomTom to the windshield and because the windshield is farther away, it's easier to see the TomTom without taking my eyes too far off the road.

A beanbag mount should also work (I tihnk TT sells those now) and I would suggest placing it next to the MFD above the POWER button (I think it's LHD there, right?)

Welcome to the forum. Check out the M2 Mobile Mount by Soundgate. I am using it for the GPS on my Camry and am going to buy one for my 2010 Prius. It's made in Germany with very good quality.

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

The "M2 Mobile Mount by Soundgate" looks really cool and versatile. I will definately get one.

I figured out that there is CD changer plug in the back of the sterio, and that I can get an adapter for the iPhone 3G (song titles will even display on the center console screen, and the controles on the steering wheel also work), so all good in that department.

Mounting the TomTom in the corner of the windshield is also a good option, even on that little side window if I get a cradle with a long bendy arm. Dismantling the dash seems to be quite easy, so I can run wires to the unit, so all good in that department.

All in all, after only 4 days of owning the car, I must say this is the best car I have ever owned. I had a PT Cruiser before this one, and a fully loaded BMW 535 before that (when I thought I was rich), a Mitsubishi Charisma, Subaru 4x4, Fiat Panda (urg) and a VW Beetle - actually the old Beetle is the best car I ever owned, but the Prius comes in at a close second :)

My biggest surprize was the power. I expected it to be terrible, with only a 1.5L engine, but it is actually ok. The other surprize was the gas milage. I am averaging 5L per 100Km - that is less than my motorcycle!

I heard the new Panda is supposedly better....

Yeah the small side window works too. I considered that but I don't have a long arm cradle.

Greetings again, almost exactly one year since I first introduced myself. Long story short, today I bought a 2011 Prius with all the bells and whistles. Will take ownership on Saturday, I hope.

I took my beloved 2005 in for a service last Monday, and just for fun test drove the new model. What an amazing car! Today, 3 days later, I signed the papers.

I will not say how much I paid for it, as cars are expensive here in Switzerland (relative to the US) and the Swiss Franc is very strong (ok, $44.000.- for TOYOTA Prius 1.8 VVT-i HSD Sol with navigation and all sorts of extras).

Looking forward to a great ride. Will post pics when my new baby is delivered to me.

    Cheers,

I don't see how the bean bag mount works with the 2010 dash slope. Also, does your TT windshield mount stay on even in cold weather?

    Happy Motoring,
