Apologies in advance if this has been discussed previously (but my searches didn't come up with anything specific).

I am curious. If I have a VIN, is there anything online to do with it -- see info, track it, find out details about where it's made, etc?

When I got a BMW a year ago, I was able to do these sorts of things. Just curious if there's anything fun to do with Prius' VIN.

    Thanks! :D

search around the board for "TSB" and/or "recall", where you'll find
some facilities where you could enter a VIN into a web form and get
back whether or not it was in an "affected" range for a particular
problem. [or just compare ranges yourself.] But if you're looking
at one for a *new* prius, that may be sorta pointless.
    .
Probably better to simply keep it to yourself and not splat it around
the net, for the precise reason that some sites essentially use VINs
    as IDs or passwords...

I'd look carefully around your yard, poking frequently with a pointed stake, to try and discover a metal hatch door like the one in "Lost".

If you find one, but it has your VIN stamped on it (just to the right of the handle), DON'T GO DOWN THERE!

    Call Homeland Security instead.
