This morning a woman who works for a local (San Diego) dealer told me she had seen and had had a ride in a 2010 Prius. Are there enough 2010s around for this to be possible?

The first press conference for the 2010 is on morning of Jan 12th at the Detroit Intl. Auto Show.

Maybe certain people in dealerships have seen prototypes, but they would be under non-disclosure agreements, I believe.

I would think we'll know a lot more about the car in photos and with specs on Jan 12th.

I would say the managers probably have seen it and touched it but I have no idea if they've driven it.

I'm gonna say it's highly unlikely that more than a select handful of people have seen it.

Well, did this lady who works for Frank Toyota have anything to say about the 2010 model? Ride, comfort, ergonomics, features, mpg?

Is this someone you know, or just a chance meeting?

Yeah. Hit her up for details. Perhaps ask her something we know that's different from the current model to verify that it really was the 2010. Maybe something about her impression of the relocation of the shift knob and the [Park] button.

I agree with Tony. Press her for details to see what she knows. She may have ridden in one or even driven one, but if so, she knows people ............

I was recently in my local toyota dealer and asked about the 2010 due in Jan. They haven't even seen one and now have 50 unsold new prius sitting on the lot. As the recession hit sales fell and are still way down.
When I asked about the plug-in option , they asked what part plug-in......

They did say they have heard the 2010 may get 60 mpg. Time will tell.
I'm holding out for a plug-in or convert my 2005 to A123 plug-in if they get a AZ conversion location. Even with low gas prices it makes sense to me.
