    hi folks,
newbie here, was wondering about the latest updates on head and taillight failures.
also does my extended warranty cover these items?
    thanks,

The headlamps have a history of HID module failures. Talk to your dealer, the modules should be covered, though you may have to escalate to Toyota. The bulbs are not, they are considered a "use up" item. They are expensive, so be careful. Perhaps best to let the dealer mess with them. If you have Halogen headlamps, it's just the bulb, and that is not covered. They are inexpensive but a little difficult to replace. Don't touch either bulb glass when replacing. It puts oil on the bulb envelope which will cause it to overheat and fail again.

The tail lamps are bulbs, and are not covered. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. The brake lamps are LEDs, and should be covered (they don't "wear out" in the conventional sense).

HID capsules can be purchased through eBay at prices much better than the dealer's. Specific eBay sellers are listed in some of the headlight threads on this site.
