Hello! New 2008 for me (and an idiot light!)

Hello All! Just picked my ceritified pre-owned 2008 a week ago tomorrow and love it. Been lurking here ever since.

Question, I know I didn't see this until last night, but I now have a blinking red light on the dash with a key going through it. Didn't notice it before, and I'm paranoid enough, I thought to have seen it.

The manual says that it is when a key isn't detected? and the service guys said this is normal. So, I am putting it out to the pros here to tell me that I am not crazy. Blinks all the time I am away from the car. Hmmm.

Totally normal its the engine immobilizer light. Think anti theft security.

Are you sure it is the engine immobilizer light? I think it is the smart key indicator (meaning it is on)
