Thank you for your summary. I am considering buying a used 05 Prius, 70,000 miles from a Honda dealer. What questions should I ask? The asking price is $14,000.

Most important: conduct a title search (for example through Carfax) to see whether it is a salvage (probably it is not, but infinitely better to know). If it is, run away fast. If not, ask the seller to lower the price :_> $14K seems a little high for an '05 with 70K miles.

Before buying pay a Prius technician (most of them are at Toyota dealers) to thoroughly inspect it.

I also bought an 05 Pkg III with 73.5 K Miles. That too from a Honda dealer. Price $11K less $1K for my 99 accord with 250K Miles on it. No sales tax in CT.

I am getting 50 MPG on my 42 Mi one way commute.
