Giving an exact number is hard but with cruise at that speed, flat road about 49give or take 2mpg.

70 is much better than 80, varying between them would be worse than either.

FYI for folks driving on I-95 in nc, sc, georgia. I travel that interstate a lot, have for several years. The speed limits vary between 65 and 70. If you go no more than 8 MPH over the limit the troopers will not bother you.

I was going to say 55.
Of course, it is possible to drive with a heavy foot and bring that down to 50.

It also depend on road condition, wet roads will effect your mpg by
as much as 5 mpg. Wind has an effect as well. A tail wind will
get you more mpg a headwind you of course will get less.

Also one way runs are not the best way to compute true highway mpg. The best way is a round trip on the same road.

Temperature is another factor. In summer at 75 mph you may get a
true 45 mpg in winter maybe 40.

Also gas blend, winter blended gas has less heat energy than summer blend. Also 10% ethanol will lower your mileage by as much as 3 mpg.

The best way of course is to just try it round trip.

I average about 45 mpg running 70-80 on I-40 from east to west NC with cruise so should be very similar to I-95.

Stay legal and you'll see a marked improvement. The Prius does not shine on the highway, and the more you push it the more mileage tanks. It's one place a carefully driven Civic Hybrid can surpass it.

I've never seen 55 mpg at 70-80 mph. From when I took a trip to California & back which was 2k miles of travel on I-5 doing 70-75 mph with CC set I got 43-47 mpg & at 60-65 mph It went up to 50-55 mpg when I was traveling through Oregon. ;)

My guess would be 45 mpg +/- 3 mpg when traveling at 70-80 mph.

I did a trip to NY-Long Island over the Thanksgiving holiday 2011, mostly I95, used CC where possible and traffic was flowing. Avg calculated mpg came to slightly higher than 52. Kept up with traffic but I usually don't try to be the fastest car on the road since I usually catch up to everyone passing by at various congestion points along the way. Typical CC set at 72-75 and partial grill block.
