Hi folks. In my quest to find some answers to my cargo carrier question (hint ... PLEASE help!) .......

    http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-main-forum/47716-hitch-mounted-cargo-carrier.html

...... I decided to post a few pix of my Prius with my bike rack and bike attached.

The rack is a Hollywood rack, but this rack is sold under a variety of names and variations. I have a variety of bikes in a varitey of shapes; therefore, I need a rack that holds the bike by the wheels - not the top tube. This rack works well with the Prius, as it has a rise built into the shank.

As you can see, I have the rack set-up for only 1 bike, but it easily carries 2. When I only have 1 bike on the rack, I put the bike on the inside of the rack to minimize downforce on the hitch. Using this method, I cannot open the hatch without removing the bike. I could easily put the bike on the outside part of the rack, and the hatch would open with the bike still on the rack. I'll probably do this after I get some miles on this set-up, and feel more confident.

Again, if anyone can help me with this:

    I would be very greatful.

Hey Brad ... nice pix - thanX for posting! I ride a Blur mtb also!

Unfortunately, I don't have any thoughts on your quest for a cargo carrier, but others most certainly will. Here's the link again in case you lost it:

Also, here are the pix and links to the 2 cargo carriers that you are currently considering:

    Hey, Brad! Great Pix!

How did you get so many different kinds of bike racks? Could you recommend one for me?

(Just trying to help get some interest and responses!)

You're welcome. It just would be nice if there were other people joining this thread . . .

I have the same interest as you in finding out which cargo carrier would work best. As I said before, I'd like to see one that folds up so it could be stored easily itself.

I really like the railing that would allow more opportunity to tie down and give stability, but I wonder if the one that gives more vertical rise isn't more practical. I guess it all depends on how much weight you'll have in the car and on the rack. It doesn't take much to really drop the rear end of this car.
