How are the optics through your windshield?

Very noticeably at night, everything through my windshield has a double image. Look at any kind of light source and I can see two or even three mirror images of that light (even with one eye closed so I know it's the glass) It's kind of in bands too. I.E some areas of the windshields are worse than others. I noticed it immediately when I first got my prius a few months ago. Since then my eyesight has been getting progressively worse. I've had better than perfect vision my entire life and in the last couple of months from adjusting to looking through the windshield two hours a day I'm noticing very rapid and vast changes in my vision.

Has anyone else noticed this, or have problems with their windshield? I'm seriously getting to the point that I want the windshield replaced, and if it doesn't get any better I may have to take it to another level.

yup pretty much. apparently still a problem in 2012 as I'm guessing the windshield is identical

Oh yeah, I notice it... looking lengthwise while turning a right hand corner it is very noticeable. The view gets distorted.

In my 2012 I tried looking to see what you mean, but mine is mega clear through all windows at all angles.... Possible defect on certain windows?

mine is the opposite of "mega clear." Through just about any spot on the front windshield I can see an obvious "wavyness" in the glass in the way the light refracts and distorts what I'm looking at through it. And at night lights will have at least 3 mirror images at a very surprisingly big offset. For example when looking at a traffic light that is turned red (the top light) red light itself is mirrored down as far as where the center yellow light would be. I think it's time for a replacement.

Car headlights have the slight double image, especially around twilight. We first got the car and almost immediately took an overnight roadtrip. I kept getting spooked because it made the oncoming cars headlights look like they were like police cars (I may have a slight speeding habit).

Thought I was just tired and imagining it until my partner piped up and wondered if I was seeing the way the glass made double images. Since then a couple passengers have commented on the weird way our windshield makes headlights look.

I just always figured all Prius windshields would do that because of the fairly steep angle.

My vette's windshield was at least as steep (prob steeper) and never had an issue. In fact I never have seen mirror images and distortions as bad as on the prius windshield in any car.

i would take it to a glass shop and get their opinion if the dealer won't help. you may also want to ask your eye doctor to look at it.
