Nobody knows. In CARB states, it's guaranteed to last 10'years or 150K miles. In reality, it'll probably be north of 200K easily.

Between 10.5 miles and 14.0 miles depending on how I drive and the route.

It will last until Toyota recycles it.

How long any one charge will last has been answered as well as how long it can be recharged. I think this completes all possible answers to a really vauge question. (The atoms last forever)

Judging from the track record, it'll last longer than Toyota's 10 years / 150k miles warranty.

To cover another ambiguity, the auxiliary battery is small and is not meant to power the car when off. So if listening to the radio while parked, do it briefly, or be in READY. Lifetime can be a decade or more. Preventative maintenance is normal climates is 5-6 years. In harsher climates, 3-5 years. Sooner if a high drain is left on and depletes it.

My previous Prius key fobs have lasted about 40K miles. But I have low mileage (about 8K miles/year). I'd bet that someone who drives 20K miles per year would get 100K miles on a key fob.

Why would a harsher climate matter much? The 12v battery does not crank the car...it just power the computer to start it.

Someone posted a chart that shows a bell curve of PIP battery life based on aging and forecast technology. Some of it is based on environment and cooling. The PIP uses fans to keep the Battery cool. A PIP parked outside in the Desert with summer heat at 120 degrees will not have the same life span as one parket near the ocean with an average temp of 70 degrees, and not as good as a garaged car with some environmental controls. The warranty is 10 years or 150,000 miles in the CARB states. A decade is about the time when they start to fail if not taken care of. If not covered by warranty a Salvage battery costs about $500 + labor to install, a rebuilt about $2,000 + labor and new I beleive $3,500 + Labor . I'm not a mechanic or expert but this some of the info traveling around PriusChat that I recall.

12V battery is about 5-7 years based on environment.

Hot and cold are the enemy of batteries. Thankfully the battery is in the cabin, but it still gets cold. I have measured way below freezing temperatures in my Prius in the cabin before. On hot days when it might be 100F out, it is probably 110F+ inside the car. That is bad for a battery. On one of my ski weekends last season the Prius was parked outside for 3 nights with daytime highs just above freezing and nightly lows closer to -20F. That is bad for the battery.

If you garage it 100% of the time, not a problem. But "harsh" climates will lower the lifespan of a battery.

He's talking about the aux battery, not the HV battery.
Btw, pip manual says never to store the car below -40 and to not charge in temperatures below -22°F

Yes, but this applies to all batteries. Leave your cell phone in the car or the keyfob outside, same difference. Weather doesn't care what the battery is used for!

Someone just posted the the Volt has a liquid cooled system for the battery, the Prius has a Fan based system and the Leaf has a passive cooling system. You may recall the owners report saying do not block the vent located in the rear seating area. There are reports that the leaf located in Palm Springs and Phoenix area are getting early battery failures in part due to the excessive heat and passive cooling system. This is covered under warranty. Should expect to see some design modifications if they have not occured already.

Regular Prius has a battery fan blower. PiP has upgraded twin blowers.

After owning a few cars some decade long and others just 3 or 4 years I'm starting to think that the best car experiences are the cars I own less than 5 years. I beleieve someone said the sweet spot on resale is 3 years and less than 60,000 miles. I can say that most cars made today (Most not all) can go 5 years on just routine maintenance. If you sell the car before that you avoid all the repair bills and headaches assocaited with long term ownership. I'm sure some with mechanical abilities and the right tools welcome those situations, but for someone like me if I can avoid it I'm a happy guy.
